Dauphin Island Beach Retreat in prestigious Desoto Landing

A wonderful gulf view house that sleeps 10, located in the luxurious gated community of Desoto Landing. This home is decorated totally upscale. The subdivision offers a beachside pool, lighted tennis court, & a boardwalk to the beach. This sun filled house has a covered deck just off the kitchen that is great for grilling with friends, relaxing with your cup of coffee or simply stargazing. Relax in a great whirlpool tub after a long day at the beach . The master bedroom has a queen sized bed with a 43 inch HD TV. The main living area has a 65 inch 4K TV. The upstairs entertainment- kids room features 2 queens, a gaming system and a 50 inch flat screen TV, a wet bar, and balcony. There is plenty of room downstairs for enjoyment as well with sugary white sand at your footsteps and a sand area for the little ones to play. Beach towels, chairs, and beachcart are all provided for you to enjoy your time at our beach house!
Fun Things to Do Off the Island: If you are looking for sightseeing opportunities beyond Dauphin Island, the area has a lot to offer. With just a short drive, you can visit nearby Bellingrath Gardens and the many attractions of Mobile, including historic homes, the Gulf Coast Exploreum, IMAX Theater, Mobile Medical Museum, Mobile Museum of Art, U.S.S. Alabama, and Mardi Gras Museum, just to name a few. The Mobile Bay Ferry departs the East End of Dauphin Island for Fort Morgan, where you can explore the fort, or drive in to Gulf Shores for more shopping, dining, and golf. A day trip to the Outlet Mall in Foley, Alabama, just north of Gulf Shores, is a popular trip. The Saenger Theater in Mobile is a magnificent theater showcasing national talent. Or, drive over to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to enjoy the casinos, fine dining, and live entertainment.
Relax or Be Active...the Choice is Yours!: Kayak rentals are available on the Island, which allow you to explore the gulf, bay, and waterways surrounding the Island. Leave the car parked and bike to the seafood market, the local art gallery , or the bakery using the Island's extensive bike paths. Take a hike through the trails of the Audubon Bird Sanctuary. Kids and adults enjoy Historic Fort Gaines and the Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. Play a game of tennis; swim in the gulf-front pool. Perfect family getaway!
We really enjoyed our stay, the location was a quick walk to the beach and pool, which was perfect for going back and forth throughout the day. We also loved that it was only a quick drive to the local stores to pick something up, grab cinnamon rolls from the Lighthouse Bakery, or beach supplies. We had everything we needed and the owner Julie was excellent to communicate with. Definitely would recommend!

A short family escape
We were looking for a quiet less crowded getaway for our family. This location was perfect, two minutes from the pool and three minutes from the beach walking. It was total relaxation and the unit was definitely well equipped to handle up to 10 people.

We had an excellent time. The house had everything we needed to cook with and plenty of paper toiletries. The beach and pool within walking distance. The neighborhood was so quiet and peaceful; It was the perfect getaway for us.

Wonderful place, very pretty color scheme. Well-maintained and convenient.
Really enjoyed both decks and upstairs balcony. Kitchen was very well equipped for anything you might need. Home was well-stocked with paper products and common household cleaning products. Bedrooms were comfortable and pretty. We loved the colorful pillows! Thank you.

Nice and Peaceful
We were 2 families, adults and a mixture of teens and pre teens. The house was comfortable and spacious and the kitchen was well stocked. There was a wagon on site to haul chairs, umbrella, beach towels and etc to the beach, but the walk was a bit far. It was a very quiet and relaxing place to stay, off the beaten path so to speak so we didn't hear a lot of traffic The beach was not crowded, the swimming pool was vacant most of the time. Loved the fact that we had a washer and dryer to keep swimsuits and towels fresh. We were very glad to have a place to wash the sand off of our shoes and feet before entering the home. The property managers left phone numbers on the dining table if we needed to be in touch. On the flip side, the beds were worn and not in the best of shape so some of us (adults) didn't sleep well. We had a few problems with the main floor bathroom draining. The house needed a few repairs here and there but our overall experience was great! We were excited to have our deposit back so quickly after our stay so Thank you Julie!

Gorgeous family home
My family spent 4 days at this location, July 5 to 9, 2017. The home was just right for a family of 8 including three children. We loved it and highly recommend it as vacation away from home. I do suggest the owner check the shower tubs and the whirlpool bathe they were full of sand.

Perfect for the family
I would start with just saying how great this place is. To begin with logistically, we easily slept the 5 adults and 4 children of our family, not to mention had plenty of room for all of our stuff. The kitchen is remarkably well stocked with most any utensil or normal kitchen gadget you will want for (though I didn't see a toaster, so bring your own if you're of a mind for crispy buttered bread). The walk down to the boardwalk seems to take a while, but is not insurmountable, and the pull cart that is provided works well at hauling even the most top heavy of loads. There are plenty of beach towels and bath towels, but you may want to bring some of your own washcloths if you like to use more than 2 per day like many of my family. The decor of the house is splendid, tasteful and beach/nautical themed without being overdone. I cannot over emphasize how clean the entire house was overall. Even the two neat/germ "freaks" in my family were blown away, and had no problems whatsoever. Remember, and I'm sure you know this if you are looking at this or any other property on Dauphin Island, that it is a good 60 minute haul over to Gulf Shores. For me that was one of the best parts about this place as it meant the usual tourist-tastic traffic was not there. The beach was clean and sparsely populated, and I had no need of continually reminding my sons to "bounce their eyes" when someone wearing 10 ft of dental floss more than nothing came casually strolling by. There are a few good places to get food there on the island, and the neighborhood pool and tennis court were nice changes in activities from simply being beach bums. Lastly, I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to have a wonderful extended getaway at the beach, without all of the noise of somewhere really busy or populated. I know that my family will be back soon.
