Cozy Ridge Retreat

Welcome to the beauty of nature along the Mississippi! This cabin has it all from modern amenities and an authentic log cabin feel to the beautiful soaring views of the Mississippi. You and your guests will enjoy the convenient location, only 12 minutes from Lansing, IA or 7 minutes to the nearest boat landing. Take in the wildlife that frequently passes through the peaceful wooded hillside on the large covered screened porch. Once you arrive you will agree the drive was well worth the visit!

When we arrived the AC was not working. Contacted the host, which took over an hr to get a response. Informed him of the issues and he said he’d contact a repair person and let us know right away what the next steps were. We waited another 40 mins with no response from the host. At this point it was over 78 in the rental and 90% humidity. My wife and i made the decision (2hrs since check in) with no information from host of a repair person to fix it, it was not suitable or safe for us and the dog to stay there. We contacted the host to let him know of our decision and asked for a refund. The host responded at 9:41 pm (4 hrs later) with “opening the windows would have cooled the cabin.” This is not the solution we expect when booking a property with air conditioning as an amenity. The host stated they did not feel it was a health or safety concern as they “visited the cabin the day before with their dog when it was 90 outside and the interior was comfortable.”After multiple requests for a refund, the host stated a technician was “available soon after” we left the property. This is hard to believe as communication would have been received prior to the initial text at 9:41pm. The lack of consideration and accountability by the host was not appreciated. The property did not deliver a key amenity as advertised and we felt a refund should be issued. The host replied stating they are unsympathetic with our request and would not refund anything.

We arrived at the properly late night. Michel was available for us and answered our questions right away. It’s perfectly located, close to Iowa and Minnesota. We drove to Brownsville MN to eat at a marina, the easy to go to La Crosse to have some great ice scream and walk by the river, and drove back to the Iowa side to have a beer in a local bar. It was amazing. The cabin itself it a magical place. You can just watch a movie and enjoy of a great view locking out the house, you can walk around and enjoy a friendly neighborhood or just drive to do groceries in Viroqua WI and have another amazing experience in town and while driving. I’ll recommend the place to visit.

Great place to kick back and unwind. The cabin was clean, and Michael was a great host, he was quick to respond to any questions we had. The view was absolutely amazing, and we were able to enjoy some wild life, deer, grouse and even a wood chuck! Would definitely recommend the cabin for a great get away.

Wonderful Place

This is a terrific place to stay. We loved being close to the river to boat and the place itself is in a very peaceful location. A previous reviewer mentioned that a bar got in and there was a smell, but we didn’t experience that over our 2 nights. Just a terrific place to stay with a great host! We’d definitely come back.

The cabin was beautiful and the ower was very responsive. The view was the best part. The screened in patio was our favorite llace to hang out. However, we had some issues with critters. We had a bat in the cabin flying around that we had to capture and release. Then we could hear and smell bats in the walls the rest of the trip. We also had cockroaches in a couple of the beds. Informed him of these issues and he said he would get an exterminator out after we left. Hopefully all is good there now!

Quiet Hideaway

This is a lovely, quiet, secluded property with an incredible view. We spent alot of time on the screened in porch. Great relaxation spot day or night. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Wonderful place to stay. Gorgeous home and had everything we needed. The only thing I could suggest is to get glassware and full plate/bowl/ coffee cup sets. Owner was fast to reply to any questions I had.

Cool place up on the bluff

We really enjoyed the location and the cabin! The space has great views of the river and accommodated our party of 6 very well. Whenever I stay in such remote areas as this, any "inside" recommendations on places to see, recreate, eat, etc are very helpful and would be a welcome addition to the place. Screen porch is great but it was cold during our trip so didn't get to enjoy it much. My one recommendation would be to upgrade the plastic eat/drinkware. We brought wine and nice foods for New Year's Eve, all of which we're served on cheap plastic that was also difficult to clean.

We had a great time. This is a very unique house with a beautiful, peaceful view. We saw a few bucks around. The house had a few Christmas decorations and it just felt so comfy and homey. We would definately stay here again.
