This room has a pleasant view of North Road. On the left is the double bedroom with large double bed, some storage & a rear view of the garden.
A unique location. Enjoyable place to holiday and relax. Great community and excellent walking trails. Historic sites close by and great pub food in close walking distance. The accommodation has an excellent bathroom and kitchen. Stairs are risky and neck-breaking. Master bedroom has a very small double-bed. Some nice pieces of antique furniture but most furniture in lounge and dining is not in good condition and broken lounges need replacing. Dining table too fragile to be used. Laneway at front door is dirt, busy with traffic and very dusty. Can't leave front door open... car covered in thick dust each day.Cottage has a lovely 'feel' about it and overall it was an enjoyable stay.
Wonderful stay in this sterotypical fishrman's cottage very close to the beach in Kingsdown. The listing is reasonably accurate with these exceptions:
- There is no balcony
- There is a patio out back with table and chairs
- There is a barbecue
- The double bed is not big - especially for anyone over 6'
Everything else is a fair representation. The house is very clean and has a nice shabby chic vibe to it. We've never stayed anywhere with such a large and eclectic collection of crockery! We stayed with our adult daughter and felt that 3 was a perfect number, 4 people would be ok too. 5 (using rollaway) would be tight unless they are younger children. As UK showers go, this one is fab, and the whole bathroom is functional. The stairs are quite narrow so we found it helpful to leave a light on downstairs for those needing the bathroom in the night.
Location wise, the place is spectacular. A few yards from the Rising Sun and the Zetland and a short stroll to the butchers, the Kings Head, St John's church, and the Post Office/store.
You can walk in so many directions from the house, along the beach and up the cliffs, along Upper Street and into the woods, or along the beach the other way to Walmer and Deal. A wander up to Hawksdown is not to be missed!
As others have mentioned, if driving, park to the rear of the property leaving North Road to the residents.
Bottom line - would happily stay here again!
