Sterling Shores is a gated, 11-story complex in the heart of Destin. Boasting a 4300 sq. ft. private lagoon pool, gulf front pool, commercial grill area, BBQ grills, picnic area, and exercise room, located on 9 acres of lush tropical landscaping with 240 ft of beach. The beach pool is heated from Nov-May, depending on temperatures. The lagoon pool is not heated.

Close by is Destin Commons, a beautifully landscaped, pedestrian-friendly area and a great family venue where children will love to play in the interactive water fountains. We were met with several obstacles during our stay at Sterling Shores. We arrived to find the property under heavy construction which we were not made aware of prior to arrival. Entire floors of the property were unavailable during our stay, our balconies were unavailable during out stay which we were not made aware of prior to arrival, the main pool was out of service for maintenance as well as the fitness center. Construction began at 8am every morning (weekends included) and continued well into the evening hours each night. On one instance construction workers tripped a fire alarm and the entire property was evacuated at 8:30pm. Upon arrival we found that our balconies did not have functioning locks and when we contacted real joy vacations, we were told that it was after hours and the HOA was unavailable to address this. We never received any update or assistance with this matter for our entire stay. Upon checkout we discovered that the dishwasher was not working which we were not made aware of. We did enjoy the Destin area, but due to the above circumstances and poor follow up from real joy vacations, we will not be booking in the future.

Beautiful View

This is pretty large rental property with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and almost 1500 sq. ft. It allowed seven of us plenty of room to relax. It also has beautiful views of the ocean. That being said, it could use some updating. The bathrooms and kitchen cabinets are well-loved and could use some replacing, along with the finishes and caulking in the baths as it is moldy in places. The space could also use a repaint or touch up at the front.door and master bath as there are peeling spots. The only other bummer is the water heater. It can’t keep up with the eight person capacity of the unit or jacuzzi tub. It would be awesome if it was updated to a “on-demand” water heater. The location, pools and beach service was exceptional!

Sterling Shores Fall Break 2024

In general the property was beautiful, well maintained, and well suited to our family. Everything we needed was always found and the condo appliances were amazing. However I was a bit surprised at how outdated the bathrooms were in comparison to everything else. No big deal overall, but still surprised and I felt that although they were obviously clean, they didn’t always look clean based on the age. Also, the property and views were beautiful, but the view shown in the pictures was not the view we had. We were not overtop of the pool as I felt was indicated but very much to the side without a good view. Therefore I was not comfortable letting the young teens go to the pool without supervision since I had no real visibility.from the balcony.

Great time at the beech

We loved this condo, the property. And all the amenities that came with it. We would definitely stay here again. There was one small issue but I would not let it keep me from coming back. There was not enough hot water to fill the jacuzzi tub. But we loved that it came with beach chairs and an umbrella.

We had an amazing time. The condo was extremely clean and comfy, and super close to the beach. Wal-Mart is only about 5 minutes away to grab all of those beach necessities. The best part for us, was waking up and sitting on the deck with a morning cup of coffee. It doesn't get better than this!

We had the best vacation! My family of six (with kids ranging from 2 yr to 15 yr old) all enjoyed the property! It was so clean and comfortable. We loved the pools and the easy, short walk to the private beach! It was easy to go back home if we forgot something, needed to make lunch, or put the baby down for a nap. It was also conveniently located to several restaurants and stores! We've already told several friends about the property and would definitely stay here again!

We came had an issue with the washer and they were excellent and getting it working they actually brought in a new one. April was our first contact she was awesome. Gave us a lot of good information the TVs. Have to many remotes.
