Mid Century Mountain Home on 3 acres - 10 Minutes to DGO - AC-Hot Tub-Views

Our 5 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom residence ("The Wright House") sits on 3 acres and offers views of the Hermosa Cliffs as well as privacy and seclusion, yet is only 10 minutes (6 miles) from Historic Downtown Durango and 20 minutes (20 miles) north to Purgatory Ski Resort.

This is a unique opportunity to stay in a residence originally built in 1962 and designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wrights students. The residence was completely remodeled and finished in early 2023 by the new owner remaining true to the period and making it much more than your typical vacation rental. The luxurious home is furnished with high quality period furnishings, Smart TVs with cable in 4 of the 5 bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, and beautiful deck with a fire pit and valley views. Central AC was also installed.

The residence is perfect for multiple families as it features multiple living spaces, a private circular drive and plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers. It has great outdoor space with an 8 person hot tub, plenty of outdoor seating, and on property walking trails with access to national forest. It includes a complimentary Level 2 Tesla EV charger that can provide a full charge overnight.

The home is less then a 5 minute drive to the newly renovated Durango Hot Springs, Dalton Ranch Golf Club as well PJs Market and a great liquor store. Additionally it’s located on Country Road 203 know as one of the best cycling routes in Durango with fresh asphalt, quiet country atmosphere, and rides that extend to great destinations.

The home is not pet friendly. Please do not bring your pets.

Note are also two other small cabins (2 Bedroom) that are also vacation rentals on the property that is approximately 40 yards away - there are no shared spaces. All the properties can be rented together if additional space is needed.

Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

We had a very good stay. There was an issue with the entry code, but the property manager was very responsive and we were able to resolve that issue quickly.Pots and pans could use a refresh as the non-stick surface is peeling off of many of them, but the house was clean and there was plenty of space for our group.

Well Equipped and Comfortable Stay!!

My friends and I had a girls weekend here and it was perfection. Lots of spaces to congregate, a very well stocked kitchen (lots of plates, glassware, utensils, pots/pans, sharp knives(!!) griddle!), and really cool design!

Perfect home nestled among the trees

The home is close to grocery stores but far enough out of town to feel secluded. The home was clean and had absolutely everything we needed. Loved all of the flowers and the lighting at night was nice. Thank you for a wonderful stay and great memories of this trip!

The house is perfectly located between Durango and Purgatory Ski resort. Be sure to stop at Honeyville on your way back from the mountain! We enjoyed having our coffee in the sun room taking in the gorgeous mountain views. The kitchen was spacious and clean which made cooking together quite enjoyable. The best part was soaking in the hot tub under the starry sky with a glass of wine! The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, and I truly wish we could live here. We can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer to see what the summer has to offer! Until then, it’s the best winter getaway!

My family of four stayed here with another family of four for a long ski weekend and absolutely fell in love with the house. It has been newly remodeled by someone who really understands comfort and has excellent taste. A really attractive, elegant vibe. The house has a lower section that is essentially a second house with another kitchen and refrigerator making it perfect for shared vacations with friends. All the beds and furniture are good quality, very comfortable, and very tasteful. When we first walked in we just stopped and grinned taking in the charm of the place. Wow, I thought, this is going to be a relaxing time! We ate meals together around the ample dining room table with the children eating at their own table in the connected porch. Plenty of room for eight! After dinners we usually relaxed in the hot tub on the back patio. There is even a perfect mud room type entryway for removing wet boots, ski gear, etc.. so the house stays clean.I have to say this rental was one of the best I’ve ever had (and we’ve stayed in many). Usually there is something that I can say needs improvement, but this time I can’t really think of anything. We all loved our stay and agreed we’ll definitely rent again next year.

The house is super comfortable with multiple living spaces, and had plenty of room even for our two groups.One thing that we really appreciated was the abundance of bathrooms (4.5) with a large group of us. The beds were so comfortable - I usually have trouble sleeping at hotels but I slept like a baby here. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Purgatory was super easy to get to, and we had a blast hitting the slopes and taking in the scenery. We also checked out Oxbow Park and Preserve, which was only about 4 miles away. The trails around the Animus river were great, but the swimming areas there would also probably be fun in the summer.One of the other highlights of our stay was dining at The Yellow Carrot, which was just a few minutes away. The atmosphere was relaxed and the gourmet food was incredible.But honestly we could have happily spent most of our time at the house itself. The hot tub was perfect! We loved the sunroom that lead out to the deck with incredible views. And the record player and period-correct record collection were an unexpected treat. We also appreciated the home office, which seemed well-equipped with everything needed to stay connected if you need to. The huge HD TV in the den was perfect for movies with the group. Finally, it was surprisingly wonderful to have two kitchens with two families.All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful time staying here and are already planning to come back later in the summer.
