One-of-a-Kind Luxury Home - Hot Tub, Firepit, Views - 8 Min to Purg

NOTE: 4WD/AWD required in winter with snow tires (Thanksgiving through late March). Chains can be rented in the neighborhood for $30/day.

Our 5,500 square foot, 4 bedroom, 5.5 bath, custom home is situated in the exclusive gated Castle Rock neighborhood only 4 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort and 24 miles from historic downtown Durango. The home is the very last home in the neighborhood and sits on 5 acres and backs up to 1000s of acres of National Forest offering unparalleled privacy and seclusion - yet close proximity to the abundant activities that Durango offers.

The brand new home has been outfitted to be the ultimate vacation rental with a private hot tub, theatre, game room, multiple covered decks with the main deck having awesome views, gas fire pit and an outdoor dining table that seats 12. Of course, the typical amenities such as BBQ Grill, WIFI, washer/dryer, 2 car garage are also included. The home features Starlink WIFI with average internet speeds of around 100mbs and there are TVs in each King Bedroom.

Winter 2025 Ski Trip

The Rental Mgmt Co was easy to communicate with and for the most part extremely helpful. The home was beautiful with a few quirks during our stay like hot water running out, but is a wonderful home that we enjoyed a lot.Major Issue (sorry I have to share this as it is important): Getting to the home in the wintertime was extremely dangerous. The road was muddy, mixed with snow and ice for 1/4 mile. Unless remedied, this home should not be rented during wintertime storms in my opinion. We had to have two 4 wheel drive cars towed and bought 8 bags of sand for road entry and driveway. Even with chains it was extremely dangerous and slippery. Several of our guests fell having to walk to the home due to conditions after vehicles could not get to the home. The guy towing our cars said he had towed 50 vehicles in that specific area of the entry over the past three years and that he considered it the worst in the Purgatory area. The Rental Mgmt co did have road plowed and sanded twice but only after I called on two separate occasions. Again, great home but extremely dangerous road to access and guests should be warned in advance about what they are getting into. Towing and sand cost me 500 and no offer for reimbursement or response to my request was given.Thank you. Ken & Desiree

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

Our second time staying at this amazing property. If it snows a ton, be sure you have a 4WD vehicle and snow chains. But the journey is worth it! Perfect for families or groups, with a very responsive management team.

Amazing Place!

Very accurate listing. This place has something for everyone. There are 3 full bedrooms with their own well appointed baths making 3 couples comfortable. The bunk room is great for kids. This place was more than big enough for our 3 families. Very nice kitchen. Media room is great for movie night. Hot tub on a cold night is great! Be sure to follow instructions on access carefully as most navigation apps don't find it very well. We loved out stay!!!

Modern and Magnificent

It sounds cliche, but the pictures truly can't convey the beauty of this house and the surrounding area. The house is just secluded enough but still very convenient for a local run to the Needles store or Schoolhouse Pizza. Of course, it is also just down the highway from Purgatory--so convenient! The only caution is to be certain that you bring a four-wheel drive vehicle and maybe even a set of chains as well. The drive in through the neighborhood and the steep driveway can be challenging during a snowstorm. The plus side of being snowed in for a day was that our group got to really enjoy the house--and we still got some skiing and boarding in, with plenty of fresh powder!

Family vacation

Beautiful home 1 mile from Purgatory Ski Resort. The online listing we used to decide on this rental stated it was 5 miles from downtown Durango however, it is closer to 25 miles from Durango. I am sure in the winter the proximity to skiing is awesome but we were there in August and wanted to be near town. Aside from that the home is awesome and very well maintained. Pleanty of room for our chidren amd grandchildren.

Beautiful home, quiet location, excellent views

We stayed in this home with two families. Four adults, 8 kids ages 7 to 13. Our purpose was a winter getaway to play in the snow. The home itself is gorgeous. Lots of bathrooms and sleeping options. Our kids loved the bunk room. There was 4 feet of snow and the roads were well plowed. However, as the listing says, if there is snow, you will wand 4wd and chains in the winter. Our kids spent hours sledding down the hills to the side of the house. One note--bring your own bottled water. The water from the tap wasn't the best. Overall, we loved it and would rent again.

This was a beautiful place to spend a vacation with my kids and their spouses and grandkids! There was plenty of room for the 11 of us. The views were breathtaking and we enjoyed all of the extras! Thanks for a family vacation that we will always remember! !
