Our room was very clean but parts of the common areas of the hotel needed attention. The pillows on our bed were too thick to sleep on. No thinner pillows were available so we purchased 2 at WEM. The ice machine was not working for the 4 days of our stay. The manager addressed our concerns appropriately on check-out.
This property is BRAND NEW!!! Across the street from West Ed Mall. AND has free underground parking AND FREE breakfast!!! We were beyond impressed with our room. Queen and a King bed. Big fridge, microwave and a dishwasher. Beds were very comfortable. And black out blinds so we slept in. We met Kathie, the manager and she gave us lots of tips for our trip. This is the best priced and best value hotel in Edmonton.
The only thing I liked is the location, but again there are many other hotels in the area that offer that.
It seems the hotel hasnât been open for long but the reviews were somewhat misleading. The following was my familyâs experience:
1- At arrival the Garage and itâs stairwells were very dirty, as if these havenât been cleaned properly since construction.
2- We had two king beds one of which was not clean. We called reception asking them to change them but I got a âmaybe the sheets are smudgedâ response. Why would you leave smudged white sheets on in a hotel bed?? Receptionist even accused me of being a hard customer just for insisting that the sheets be changed. Eventually the receptionist did come up and change the full sheets herself (we appreciated that).
3- We had 8 pillows in the room. All were very very high and hard and none of us were able to sleep that night properly. I didnât want to call reception again because I didnât want to interact with the staff again.
4- The flooring of the whole unit was laminate and was not clean. Had a smudgy look and I am positive it doesnât pass a white glove test.
5- The hotel looks contemporary but gives a cheap feeling about the finishing. Buttons in the elevator give the feeling will come off soon, screw coming off on the sliding door lights, water leaking from the shower sliding doors out on the lamiate. Water pooling in shower, etc..
To conclude we were not impressed with the place and I donât recommend it to others.
Location was great. WEM is just across the street. Room was clean and big enough (we had 1 King and 1 Queen beds). Our room was facing west and the sunset was beautiful. Front desk staff were friendly. Breakfast was ok - good selection.
Too many sketchy people around the property. We had to park in the basement to keep our vehicle safe. Basement parking is a little tight (might be hard if you have lifted truck). The housekeepers were talking so loud in the morning and the sound of the vacuum was piercing. The volume of the TV was so low - i dont know if it was set like that to minimize the noise or we just dont know how to change the setting.
