Paradise found overlooking beautiful mountain laurels. Laurel Overlook Lodge is a beautiful 2 bedroom (queen beds and TV's) two bath, 2 story, with loft. (Loft has a single fold out, suitable for a child), dog friendly (no cats please) cabin with a covered porch, small screened porch, lounging deck. The living room offers a wood-burning fireplace, leather furniture and a desk. The dining table is very roomy for 4 people. The covered porch offers a gas grill and dining area, while the hot tub deck has a comfortable lounging area. Inside the fenced yard there is an earthen firepit to enjoy smores and a true crackling fire. PLEASE NOTE CANCELLATION POLICY BELOW.

Cancellations, rescheduling, or changes must be submitted in writing and confirmed received by Sliding Rock Cabins® more than thirty-one (31) days prior to the original check-in date in order to receive refund, less a Sixty Five Dollar ($65) cancellation fee. Said changes regardless of reason made within thirty-one (31) days of your original check-in date will result in a forfeiture of all moneys paid. All moneys paid are non-transferable to another rescheduled date. Refunds will be given if Agent can re-book said dates with another guest limited to the extent of rebooking. Agents are not responsible for Guests inability to arrive or if Guests chooses to depart early for any reason, or if members of Guests party do not show up. Cabin was superb

The cabin itself was excellent, however your description of the road to get there was under stated. You say a 4x4 is not needed, but in my opinion it is. Especially with the recent storms, we found it to be treacherous. That said, the cabin and property were very relaxing with beautiful views of the mountain and creek below. Wifi was excellent which we greatly appreciated. Overall. a great experience

My wife saw a few bears while walking our dogs but the bears couldn't have cared less.We had a problem when a contractor severed the water line while upgrading the cable in the area but when I notified Sliding Rock they sent someone promptly to replace the filter which became clogged with sediment.

I'm a little late with the review, but hey it's better late than never for such wonderful cabin. We stayed at the cabin late March. This cabin is made for pet lovers. The fenced yard creates a no stress staying for pet owners. I was pleasantly surprise with all the amenities for pets. The pet bed, toys, blanket, treats, enclosure and gate are provided. It was peaceful, secluded and clean. The enclosed back porch with a mini built in table overlooking a small stream is a plus. We had dinner on the porch every night. We hiked down one day and enjoyed collecting rocks from the stream. Overall it was an amazing stay. We will definitely be back!

Peace and Quiet

Reviewer Comments: Having rented a different cabin on that mountain before, we knew how tricky the drive could be in the dark and during rainstorms so we shopped for groceries at Ingle’s before checking in. This cabin, our 9th, turned out to be the most well-appointed one we have rented. The owners very generously supplied all of the kitchen equipment you could need. I never needed to use the knives and saute pan that I always bring with us. The only problem for us and our smaller dogs were the high beds though they were very comfortable. If you want peace and quiet, this is one of the nicer places to get that. We enjoyed pizza from Cucinella’s in Blue Ridge and stocking up on our favorite beef and Berkshire pork at Mountain Valley Farm. Did I mention how beautiful and roomy the kitchen is?

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, good. The road to get to the cabin was long and rough going up the mountain. The beds are very high and require small step to get into the beds. The downstairs bed is also very squeaky.We had a lot of trouble accessing the TV thru YouTube as we don't have a YouTube account and although NetFlix was available, we weren't able to log in with our credentials.Lastly, the gas stove igniters would continuously run when you lit one of the burners and never shut off until you turned off the burner which was quite annoying. this needs to be repaired if not already done.

Beds comfortable, WiFi security listed as weak...might want to upgrade that, but so far back in the woods, don't think anyone was around to hack it. The road in needs some work...would not try it without an AWD or 4WD vehicle, particularly when raining, as it was when we were there. Very peaceful & quiet. We did not bring a dog, but the fence is so good, not even a little dog could get out.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Laurel Overlook was a lovely peaceful cabin for us and our three pups. Our pups loved the dog toys, the treats, and the fenced in yard. The cabin was appointed beautifully. It was very clean and comfortable. We all felt at home. The back porch was where we spent most of our time beautiful view of the mountain trees. We could not use the screened in upstairs porch because the dogs do not do multiple steps, so bug spray was a must for me! Although we didn’t use the hot tub area, it was very inviting. The road getting up to the cabin was a bit difficult but we made it without incident. Loved the seclusion! We will definitely be back.
