We're so glad we found The Hygrade Inn. We were traveling on a long road trip for the holidays and needed a place to spend the night along the way. The Hygrade Inn was a wonderful treat for us! The room was cozy, comfortable, and well-appointed. From the lush bed and bedding to the relaxing seating, we recovered well from a long day of driving. The large rain shower also helped us unwind. Add in the decor, and we felt at home in a well-cared-for space.
The included breakfast was excellent: tasty and served thoughtfully in a visually appealing way. We scheduled our breakfast time and food order the night before, and when we showed up for the breakfast, we were greeted by two delicious yogurt parfaits that had been put together for us. As we finished those, Jim brought out our hot breakfast orders, which were both delicious.
The common areas are well-decorated and feature quite a number of beautiful and interesting art pieces. The owners/staff - Jim and Matt - took very good care of us and were great to talk to. After breakfast, we had a pleasant chat with Jim, who shared with us the origins of many of the art pieces in the common areas and helped us find a place to go for a scenic hike nearby.
We're already looking forward to the next time we stay at The Hydride Inn.
Beautiful house filled with great antiques. We had breakfast there every day and the pancakes were stellar! The innkeeper, Jim, was a refreshing delight, and gave us insightful information about local places to visit, including the Austin Dam Park and a spot to see elk (which we did!). Emporium has charm, and was a great home base for us to travel to see the Kinzua Skywalk and the Straubâs Brewery Tour. Would totally stay at the Hygrade Inn again.
I REALLY enjoyed the whole experience. The owner of the Inn was very sociable and served incredible breakfasts. My wife and I totally enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and well kept. The shower was large(6') and had a large overhead rain type shower head that was fantastic. My wife and I were very pleased with our entire stay and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Hygrade Inn.Loved our stay!!
We are traveling geezers with needsâŠ..fondness for delicious food ,good books and coziness ! All of which were met in Spades! With the grand staircase presenting a challenge for us and our normal dependence on elevators and room service , our hosts Jim and Matt saw to our bags(which are always ladened with medical equipment and traveling pharmacies) got from vehicle to room ,both at check in and out and delivered the morning Joe for us.
Dining⊠and it truly is ! Although the menu might seem limited, any choice you make will be enjoyable! Great chef, charming waiter, and exquisite ambiance ! If this all seems too good to be trueâŠ..you will have to stay here and try to prove us wrong !!!

My wife an I enjoyed the Hygrade and Jim and Matt immensely! This is a true gem stuck on the middle of the 'endless mountains' that is worth the stay and worth the effort to get to it. Enjoyed this wonderful old hotel with just a few rooms, but amazing service and delightful antiques. We will definitely be back again and recommend to anyone with a sense of history and a love for quaint decor and a true sense of being 'home.'
The Hygrade Inn is WONDERFUL! Very charming and quiet. The owner / host is very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. He goes out of his way to make your stay interesting. We would definitely stay there again AND recommend it to others.
What an amazing wonderful place. So comfortable and friendly. Our room was perfect for our needs. It was so great to chat with Jim about what it took to remodel this lovely place. Wish we could have stayed longer! Next time!!!
This is a beautiful 1880 home who's owner is very passionate about the area and it's history. I had a great Stay. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable.
