Very nice and budget-friendly. Nothing fancy, as basic as it gets. The room is quite small. The breakfast options are good. Breakfast area got super crowded.
It was very quiet when we stayed there, didn’t see anyone in the whole town or hotel (self check-in). But the location is gorgeous, there is a nice foss 30-minute hike away from the hotel.
Clean hotel. Nice place and good value. Helpful and welcoming staff. We enjoyed our stay. It was a good place to base our day travels. Town doesn't have much to offer, but that was OK for us.
The check in was quick and painless. Our request for an accessible room was actioned. We found it on the ground floor and was of a good size with a more than adequate sized shower toilet room. Plenty of ventilation from the opening window.
Desk and chair plus bench were all good.
I love this place. I would like to recommand this hotel all of you. It doesn't ask check out time. They just said you can stay enough here. Moreover, they gave breakfast for me even though I'm only guest that day. It's my best hotel in Iceland.

Hotel is old. No fridge. Shower situation different. Noisy
In this region of Iceland, Hotel Austur was a welcomed sight after a long drive. Staff were welcoming. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was a nice bonus.
Staff was very kind - we arrived late at this hotel. This a very small town with limited dining options. Since i was travelling with small kids, staff provided with fruits and offered more options for dinner. Property was clean, breakfast was excellent. Thanks to the staff!

The property was older and run down. It appears that they are Working on some renovations so that may change.
It was for only one night so manageable.
Town was small but cute.
The hotel is easy to get to and has beautiful landscapes all around! We were able to check in late and when I requested a crib for my son they were able to provide one! They had a full breakfast every morning which was good. The beds were comfortable and the room was dark.

Simple clean lodging in a small town. A gas station, supermarket and a small restaurant just steps away. Nothing fancy but a quiet space and hot shower to get you refreshed for another day. Can drive Highway 1 to egilsstadoir. Don’t let Google Map fool you with its instruction of a two hour roundabout route. So good location if you’re doing a drive around Iceland.

This was an odd little hotel. The rooms were clean and updated, but no one else was there. The front desk was usually empty. The whole place was kind of a ghost town.
The staff was really nice and helpful. I dropped a glass on the floor which went into thousand parts. They swept the floor right away with a smile on their face.
The room was very good and delivered what was promised. It was self check which I find a little cold. I would have liked to request the use of a second pillow due to a back problem.
Price was good for such a nice room. And very hood shower.

This place was ok, in a general small hotel style. I would stay here again but I didn't love it. The front desk clerks were fun and helpful - including one staff person who gave us the mini-fridge out of her own room because we didn't have one in ours! But the design of the rooms is a little wonky - the shower/bathroom area doesn't have a ventilation system so there's nowhere for the moisture to go - which is going to become increasingly problematic, as you might imagine. But the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was fine and the staff were helpful, so on the whole it was positive.
