We very much appreciated the very friendly and helpful staff. Whenever there was a concern or question, they made sure we got whatever we needed, several times going way out of their way to do so. We also really liked the little rooftop garden, as it became a sanctuary from the sometimes very crowded attractions and streets.

Great place!

Great stay at Hotel Malaspina! Great and friendly staff, and great location! Maybe an 10 min walk to the train station and all the other attractions are nearby too. Would absolutely stay again!

Clean, well-located, very good shower, very good breakfast, and attentive staff. These are the basics I look for when travelling in Europe. The building is dated, so are the rooms, the room is small, but that is Europe. I have no issues staying there again.

Hotel in a good location

The large piazza in front of the hotel is a welcome green space to relax and at night the area was peaceful, no traffic noise. A 10 minute walk gets you to St Lorenzo and the Central Market. Lots of cafes, restaurant and bars to choose from.

Hotel review

The hotel was comfortable and within a short walking distance of the centre. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was continental and very good .the only downside was there were no facilities in the room or in the hotel to make a hot drink.something they should consider..that apart I would recommend this hotel.

Good location, clean, staff are so friendly

The staff were so friendly and couldn't do more for me! The hotel, although a bit dated and could do with some work, was clean and well presented. Also it was only a short walk from the main train station and within walking distance to the main tourist attractions.

Horrible Hotel extremely rude staff

I am not picky on hotels, I visit Italy every year. This hotel was the worst. Very rude staff,lady at breakfast was Mrs Hiltler, slamming dishes being rude everyday. Fridge was broke and disgustingly moldy, they did nothing, they brush you off. Beds were like rocks, took our shower curtain and didn’t return it for three days,we made one out of a sheet because the water was ruining our things and they didn’t care, then turned off Air conditioning and our room was a sauna and they told us it will be fixed tomorrow, after three days of no air found out we were lied too that they turn it off beginning of October, it’s still 80 out! But they keep it nice and cold for them in the lobby.and floors were disgustingly dirty our feet were black! I do not have high expectations, but the rudeness everyday and lies and broken fridge and rock hard beds ruined our vacation. We made the best of our days but when you have to return to the rudeness and wake up to it at breakfast everyday it gets to be too much! Will never stay again! Plus very noisy on busy street and across from a noisy park. Stayed many hotels in Italy and this was the worst experience ever! They are in the wrong business, don’t care about their customers at all. We even tried saying good morning and hello everyday and they just ignored us! Only nice one was the kid that worked at night.

Good Hotel

I really liked the Malaspina Hotel in Florence. About a 10 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train/bus station (if you're going on tours, most tour buses leave from that station!) and from downtown Florence. You can walk from the hotel to all of the major beautiful, must-see locations in Florence. My room was dated, but very clean. The mattress took a little getting used to because it was a bit too hard for me, but by the second night, I was fine with it (mostly because I was always so exhausted from all the walking I did during the day). They could update the shower stall (it's really small) and shower head a bit. The shower head in my shower had a hole on top of it, so the water was squirting from the top, too. But these things are not a deal breaker! The breakfast was delicious every morning. Loved their coffee machine! Yum! The guys at the front desk were always very friendly and helpful. It was great to come back to my room every night and see it so clean and comfy. That's always important to me. If you want them to change the towels/sheets, you need to hang the "refresh room" sign at the door in the morning. Otherwise, they'll just refold the towels you used and make your bed with the same sheets. I actually only needed them to refresh my room every 3 days. I don't see the need to do it every day. Overall.... great little hotel in a great location. I was by myself and I walked all over the place to/from the hotel and could not have felt any safer!

Good location

I experienced problems with check in. We had to spend our first night in another nearby hotel, although I booked hotel stay nearly 3 months earlier. Breakfast is very, very limited choice and similar hotels offer better value. On the plus side, location is very good, 10 min to Train station and all main attractions. Beds are extra comfy and importantly very good sound proofing!

The WiFi only worked once. You get the WiFi from the nearby hotel stronger then the Malaspina network. On arrival they tried to squeeze me in a single room even tho I booked a double with single occupancy. So be aware they try to make the most of you for their benefit. Apart from that breakfast is basic but fine and the location was pretty fine. Florence is not that big so in 10 min you are in the main square.

A 10 minute walk to the Duomo and train/bus Termini so an ideal location, and quiet. Hotel was a little disappointing having read reviews - Water pressure not good so shower poor and water barely warm. Fridge and air con could have been better bearing in mind 32 degree temperature. Free Wifi but no signal at all. Cold buffet Breakfast small choice but ok met my needs and great Cappucino !

Perfect for short stays

Nice hotel and staff....very comfortable beds and very convenient for local sights, station and shopping. The staff were very friendly and helpful without being intrusive.
