Lovely staff at check-in, very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was everything it needed to be and room was well-stocked with little conveniences. A very pleasant stay and good location.

Hotel was good. The only thing was the bathroom shower was clean but needed a small makeover The flooring was worn. The room itself was clean and needs an be bedding ok. It was cold and needed supplementary heading.

Great, friendly welcome and really convenient for the gig we were going too! Little disappointed that they suddenly stopped serving food just when we went down which meant we had try and and find something last minute but other than that it was ideal for our needs. Also.... the fluffiest towels I have ever come across!!

We have stayed at the Portland for a few years now, among other places in Folkestone. The rooms are a good size and have a good feel to them. The staff are very accommodating but their adjoining (Skuba bar), seemingly takes presidency over all else! Although they host a good selection of bands and DJ’s etc. it does get very busy, Loud and out of control at times!

Bed comfortable, clean ans fresh. Bathroom clean but dated and shower in desperate need of repair. Carpet needs deep clean , although room smelt clean and fresh. The carpet was covered in oldish stains. Dog friendly great. Staff nice. Friendly. Lively bar and night club. Didnt like going though bar to room. Breakfast advised at a cost on site but was told the chef had gone home and we told we couldn’t have full breakfast there so would have to to sister hotel down at the front or a small emergency few bits. Very disappointed. Great for channel Tunnel. 10 /15 minutes away.

1 night stay before Eurotunnel crossing

Check-in was not in the hotel, but in the adjoining bar. I had to wait while customers of the bar were served drinks, but once I got someone’s attention, the correct member of staff was called and he was very helpful, giving information about parking and even offering to carry my bag up to the third floor. In the room everything was set up to make the stay enjoyable, with tea and coffee making facilities and even a biscuit. Towels and complimentary shampoo and shower gel were laid out on the bed, even with a little chocolate - a very nice touch. Unfortunately no hotel can guarantee good and considerate behaviour from all their guests. So I was woken up at 1 am by other guests having a falling out and shouting swear words at each other. I stayed for one night to save the worry about getting to the Channel Tunnel on time and have a good night’s sleep before continuing the journey on the continent. The first was achieved, the second not so much, but not really the fault of the hotel.

Portland Hotel good for the price !

L'acceuil se fait au Skuba Bar juste à coté..acceuil sympa ! Parking dans la rue mais j'ai du juste payer £2 via l'Hotel pour 24h. Grande chambre propre et confortable. Plateau avec bouilloire,thé,cafe etc plus bouteilles d'eau. Bons de 10% de réduction pour boissons et repas au Skuba Bar..plus "Happpy Hour" de 20h à 22h...2 Cocktails pour le prix d'un ! Le petit dejeuner est certes un buffet genre "continental" mais vaste choix ET compris dans le prix ! Bon rapport qualité/prix. Friendly welcome with explanations on arrival..check in at Skuba Bar next door. I paid a £2 "permit" to the Hotel for 24 hours for Parking.All was well, big clean room in an older listed building.Close to.the sea and close to town centre.

Personnel peu aimable, parlant un anglais difficilement comprĂ©hensible, ne faisant aucun effort de comprĂ©hension, oĂč tout n'est que question d'argent. Le plus important est de payer tout d'avance; le reste manifestement leur importe peu. ;
