We loved our stay at The Island. We paid extra for a room with a view and it was worth the extra money for us. We had terrific view of the gulf. Walking to the beach was quick and easy. I will recommend this hotel. They are doing construction on portion of the gulf side rooms, but that did not bother us one bit. I can only assume we got one of the newly renovated rooms and i think it was great. Only suggestion i would have is maybe offer a $5 discount card for the chair rentals on the beach. We did not use many of amenities that come with paying the resort fee/higher cost per night. Offering the discount probably would have persuaded us to sit on the beach.

The place was run down, I expected better for the price I paid. The pools were old and needed to be repainted. They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING! They say free wifi, its not. We had a fee for parking and we didn’t even have a car to park. Room was mediocre. Its the old Ramada Inn and it is old! Off the beaten path so it was quiet as far as traffic. Their baby pool consisted of a square with warm water and it was disgusting. Again, it is away from everything, so we had to Uber to Destin for the good restaurants! Don’t waste your hard earned money on this dump!

We had a very nice stay, loved the bar on the beach and everything the resort had to offer. It is very close to a few restaurants and stores, so on the days that we didn’t want to drive somewhere we were able to eat downstairs within the resort or walk next door and had a few options there.
