Located at the foot of the largest fortress in Europe, the Medieval Getaway looks out over the church green and was once home to Saint Sulpice’s bell ringer. Enjoy the calm location, the modern kitchen and the antique furnishing which reflects the rich history of the low town of Fougeres. Suitable for guests looking for a memorable holiday experience as well as for people who want to stay longer for work.
Free parking available in front of the house. Picnic area just behind the church. View over the church green, quiet and shaded. You'll have the place to yourself, with fiber WIFI access. Pets allowed if you bring your own bowls and baskets. We live next door, so will be close if needed.
Ideally located, all must-sees are within walking distance : Fougères Castle, Saint Sulpice church, medieval low town, high town, public gardens, Nançon valley, tourist train, Victor Hugo theater, Belfry, Saint Leonard’s church... Many guided tours are also offered, especially in the summer period. You can also get some fresh air in the forest of Fougeres, go tree climbing, cycle along the reconverted railway line and swim in the Aquatis center. For shops, Aristide Briand Square is a 10-min walk with Fougeres Market every Saturday morning, and a large shopping area is a 5-min drive.
PS : Because the steps of the house are quite steep, it’s likely not suitable for people with mobility issues (see pictures).
PPS : The bathroom picture shows a curtain. There is a door to the room ; the curtain only hides the water heater.
