$30k Remodel Beach/Bay House on a canal - The Amazing Margarita Sunsets

This beautiful bay/beachhouse was just remodeled Feb 2024, with new linens, interior paint, stained decks, kitchen appliances.. 1300 sq/ft with a 300 sq/ft bunk room downstairs. An absolutely beautiful wrap around deck to enjoy the view of the beach and the bay sunsets. A wonderful groomed beach ⛱ is right across the street. The Galveston seawall is 20 min away and its only a 10 minute drive to the beach town of Surfside. Free boat launch at the end of the street, and you can tie your boat to private 200ft dock right outside your back door. We love pets and kids of all ages. San Luis Pass bay area is considered to be some of the best fishing and kayaking in Texas.

This house has decks on all levels that let you get out and see the fantastic views. There is plenty of parking space for you and your friends. We also have a few games on hand for the kids to play. We have a coffee pot, and a beautiful kitchen with all the pots & pans you should need. Dishes and cutlery are also provided. Lots of linens for you and your guests, also shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms. We do not provide beach towels.

Guest access
You have full access to the house, outdoor shower, fish cleaning station, private patio and dock. You have use of the gas grill. Charcoal grills are not allowed.

Other things to note
We are 10 minute drive from Surfside, it offers several places to eat as well as a Valero gas station stocked with sundries. Pirates Cove in Surfside has restaurant and often show movies on the patio. Galveston is a 25 minute drive along Blue Water Hwy and offers restaurants, night clubs, Moody Gardens, Schlitterbahn water park, Pleasure Pier with rides and arcade games. Blue Water Grill is less than a mile toward Galveston and has restaurant/sundries as well. San Luis pass is 6 miles from the house. We offer early check in/check out depending on availability for a fee, please inquire when booking. No prom parties, Spring Break, Graduation or othe young gatherings allowed. 26 is age minimum to rent. If you have bed wetter’s with you or people who have ‘ACCIDENTS’ on our furniture we charge a minimum of $250. We have a beautiful house and would like to keep it that way. Please place soiled linens in laundry room. Failure to follow check out rules, posted in the book in the kitchen, will result in us adding fees to your stay. If you break something please notify us before you leave so we can address what is fair in fixing or replacing the item.

Overview
The canal we sit on is quiet and not over run with people. This allows for privacy and a nice environment to enjoy your stay. Beautiful secluded beach is across a Blue Water Highway which is walking distance where surf fishing in an option. Wade fishing in Christmas Bay is also an excellent activity. Fishing enthusiasts limit out on Red Fish, Croaker, Flounder, Trout, and Crabbing.

Getting around
There is plenty of parking at the house. If you have a huge group you can park on the road across from the house.

We had a fabulous stay at this fantastic beach house meets fishing heaven. From very easy communication with property manager/owners, attentive to last minute needs and checking in for any requests, to fantastic location for relaxing, birding, boating, fishing
 and a comfortable space to relax after you sunburn from enjoying too much outdoors.

Will return!

Me and my family came down to Freeport for a few days! This was a good location, especially if you like to go crabbing and fishing. Best part is you can do it right outside the house and you don’t have to leave. Our host Charles, was very friendly and answered any and all questions I had.

It was a enjoyable place to stay! The kids enjoyed catching crabs. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach. We enjoyed cooking on the grill every evening and enjoying the views. Everything we needed was provided.

Beautiful place. Host had great communication and allowed us to check in as early as possibly. Had so much fun fishing right off the deck. Lots of blue crabs and the view was absolutely beautiful. Many memories made here and will definitely back.

Great views!

The property itself, the location is amazing. On the water with great views and access to big water is easy. The home itself is clean and very comfortable upstairs. There's also some extra bedroom downstairs. We actually accidentally cracked the stove top and the owner was quick to respond and gracious. I real pleasure to work with and took care of everything for us.

Vacation after Storm

Did not find out until Saturday night before Monday check in that power was restored. Tried to cancel with owner and get refund but he would not give. Only recourse was stay or rebook . We received email from VRBO on Saturday saying would be no issues if cancelled but they were no help with owner. He was firm come or rebook no refund!!!We had conflicting schedules so we had to go. Arrived On Tuesday and left on Saturday. Beach was closed until Friday but owner said they were open all the time. Trash and mosquitoes everywhere in abundance. Ice maker did not work and gas grill did not work. Bedroom on ground floor smelled so bad no one could stay in it only used for storage. Owner did give access to ice machine in his locked area.We thought VRBO had more input when using their site to rent vacation rental.Owner did call several times.

4th of July Family Trip At Margarita Sunset on the Canal!

What an incredible home & owner!! Our 16 year old loved her private room on the bottom of the beach house. The kids room very comfortably slept all 4 of our younger ones. And the masters suite was pefect for us. The views from the deck were breath taking!! The canal, the lower deck and the fresh air and breeze from the palm trees is something we will always think about! Pure perfection. Also the beautiful 2 pergolas on the upper decks made for the best morning and evening conversations. The staircases leading to the decks are also perfect with a gate you can secure at night. Bring your fishing rods as it has perfect access to the water. And the beach was a quick one minute drive across the road with free beach parking access. Very painless booking, check-in and check-out. We will be rebooking at Charles' house. Its gorgeous inside and out and was perfect for our blended family of 7. We made memories to last an entire life-time. I will be thinking about the margarita sunsets for a long time!!

Perfect family getaway

This is in the perfect location; right next to the boat slip. Close to beaches, town, and restaurants. Galveston and the historical pier are right up the road. The host of this property was amazing, quick with response to all needs. My family and I had a great time fishing and crabbing right off the back dock, exploring and beaching. I highly recommend this property for your next getaway. A+!

This was our second stay at the house and once again we had a great time. House located down a quiet street but the beach is about 300 yards away. Charles has always been very responsive to answer any questions. We will be back!

Christmas Bay Stay

Everyone enjoyed the stay. Great location, quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets with a constant breeze on the deck and by the dock. Rented Kayaks to fish Christmas Bay but the winds made it difficult. We didn't catch any fish, but we caught several Blue Crab right along the dock. Also caught a huge Stone Crab but had to release it since it only had one claw. The description needs a minor update and the small upstairs bathroom smelled bad on arrival, that was solved when a dirty wet rag was found and discarded. The downstairs room had a slight unknown chemical smell. The place could use some updates due to the salt water air. There is a loose board on the dock which needs to be secured. The board teter toters when you step on the end. We had no issues which would of caused us to contact the owner or maintenance. Beach access is straight across the Blue Water Highway where you can drive to your spot, park and enjoy. The beach was very clean. The location is great with easy access to the beach and Christmas Bay. The TPWD boat ramp is a short walk away especially if you have a boat or kayaks. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Awesome and unique experience

My family really enjoyed staying here. There was so much to do! My 11 year old daughter fished for the first time in her life and caught a fish on her very first cast! We caught crabs off the doc (some good sized blue crabs and I think a stone crab). We were able to rent kayaks (kayak rental company delivered to the house). This place is great for pets - our dog loved her walks on the beach. Getting food was easy - we ordered delivery from the HEB in Freeport. On thing that really stood out and is undersold in the listing - the birds! We saw lots of birds that I have never seen before in my life - and right from the comfort of the house - you can watch them for hours - they put on a good show! Owner is very responsive and helpful. House itself was clean and in good working order. Beds were comfortable. Highly recommend!

Awesome location, great house, great time!

We had a blast! The house was nice and the photos in the listing give an accurate depiction. The kids caught a meals worth of keeper crabs off the dock. Caught fish in the bay and on the surf. That is a great beach and only about a 5 minute walk. Downstairs shower was very convenient! Most important things to me on a coast house - good AC & good water pressure in the shower and both boxes were checked. We'd love to come back here!

We had a fabulous time!! We took kayaks and loved being able to paddle the bay when not at the beach. We also took our golf cart. I was nice for going to the beach. This property had everything we needed!

Nice little getaway.

Nice property. Facilities and accommodations were as described. Quiet area. There were some adjacent early morning boaters loading boats into the water and fishermen, but we never disturbed by them.

We enjoyed our stay. House had everything and the location was perfect. We took advantage of the kayaks and did some wade fishing. Owners respond quickly and the neighbors to our left were beyond amazing.

Surfside Haven

Excellent location by canal and Christmas bay with easy access to the water. Separate enough from the public access area. Short drive to the beach (2 min). Well maintained and well stocked house with plenty of space and lovely decks for watching the sunrise/sunset. Would definitely recommend staying here. Disappointed in the 3rd "bedroom" . Just bunk beds, shower/toilet and laundry in a converted storage area. Maybe a hideaway for teens, but not suited as a separate room for a 3rd family.
