I checked in and was told that I had to leave my truck keys with the valet while I checked in. I came back to find that they had my truck running, UNATENDED, and the window was down IN THE RAIN! My papers inside were soaked! Went to the restaurant for lunch.. TERRIBLE service. Couldn't even get refill on coffee or get ketchup because our waitress disappeared. No apology for the lousy service at any time. They added Valet Parking, a Resort Fee, etc. NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!

Old World Charm

I was amazed at the grandeur of the place. It had that old world charm that it has genuinely carried over from that time and era. There a few places left that give that experience with actual authenticity. The spa was amazing as well with a sauna and the brunch ice sculpture was something that reflected great skill to create. Completely different experience from any other place on the island.

Rooms are small and there are hiding fees everywhere. I was told I had to pay $35 for valet parking and then to my surprise they add $40 extra at the end of your stay for facility fee. Mind you I stayed only a total of 17 hours and did not use any of their facilities. I told them this over the phone and they said WiFi is part of their facility fee… from all the hotels I have ever been to, this is the worst one. In total it was over $500 for 17 hours in the hotel. The rooms are old and dirty. Half of the stuff in the room was broken like the bathroom vent and a few of the electrical outlets did not work. Worst experience of my life, literally avoid this place at all cost.

The renovations of the Galvez have been fantastic and impeccable. Along with the wonderful rooms and great services, the Galvez is now the leading Class A hotel in Galveston.
