This is normal India... inside a property all is clean...the streets are terrible... the poor people live in horrible ways and the people who are well do a blind eye... I hope someday this country does better... it is not a problem of money... they have lots of money... but they do not see it as a priority
This is a 3 star hotel located about 1.5 miles from the Mahabodhi temple and the Bodhi tree. (When I booked it, the map showed it being very close, but it isn't.) It mostly caters to an Asian audience (Indian, Thai, Tibetan). The restaurant is excellent, as are its prices. (I would order a la carte instead of doing buffets). The room is a bit old and quite small. The bathroom was very nice. The staff is for the most part very friendly and helpful.
Nothing special about this hotel, found it hard to get through to room service, ordered a taxi to the railway station for 4 am to go to the train only to be told when we went down stairs that the taxi driver was sick and they had a rickshaw for us, I told them this was not good enough and they had us a taxi there in no time, I am sure they were trying to rip us off as we had paid for a taxi and the rickshaw was cheaper for them, very disappointing !
Nice to look outside. Inside not standard international. Staff are excellent. but some staff expect tip everything what you requested. Beds and linens are dirty and colors gone, looks old. had to asked to get towers. Has to complain to get good room. didn't give what you booked when you seen from online photos.
Realised I'd been misled - thought it was a real Taj Group hotel. The hotel was undergoing renovations which made a poor situation worse. It's a long walk to the main Bodhgaya temple.
Overpriced considering the location. Food and breakfast was terrible and service super slow. Far from everything. Staff constantly kept finding pretexts to enter the room. The roof of the hotel has people living on it (hopefully the staff).
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities were sufficient for a relaxing visit... The staff did seem to pay attention to cleanliness and thus the only negative was that the room smelled of smoke. For us we were able to rectify with some incense (worked for us anyway.) I need to make a special mention to the ice cream they have for dinner. The butter scotch is awesome.
The buffet dinner was pretty good. The morning breakfast was just okay, but for me mostly I wanted to take breakfast out in BodhGaya anyway, so no issues there. Did I mention how great the ice cream was ? After a hot day touring BodhGaya.
