The assurance of an exotic spectacle without the nuisance offered by the passage of peaceful pleasure boats, nestled in the heart of a mini rural agricultural & residential hamlet, close to the village, a stone's throw from the banks of the Bourbince and the gentle surrounding countryside, combining bucolic hedged meadows & wild forests. A picturesque little shopping town with many amenities (including a city stadium), located on a major former coalfield exploited since the Middle Ages. A former cargo port nicknamed "the quay of Paris's cobblestones" (a quarter of the capital's cobblestones were loaded here), today a "nautical stopover," Génelard boasts exceptional river heritage, home to one of the three canal trenches built in the late 18th century (with an educational trail).
