Built in 1900, added on to in the '40s, and brought into the 21st century in 2019, our three bedroom, three bathroom house with an open-plan kitchen and sunny terrace is a peaceful base from which to enjoy your southern France holiday. It is located a few minutes away from the beautiful wine-producing village of Gigondas in the southern Rhône region, an area that is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails, many of which are in Les Dentelles de Montmirail (the Dentelle Mountains).
Of the other two buildings in the hamlet, one used to be a tile and brick factory with ovens and the other was housing for the workers. Nearby quarries supplied the raw materials. Our house was where the company director lived. It is spacious and simple.
Many lovely villages and wineries to explore are within easy reach of the house such as Séguret, Vaison-la-Romaine, Rasteau, Cairanne, Ste-Cécile-les-Vignes, L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.
Being a French house, there are no fly screens on the windows. There are two mobile air conditioning units for summer and several mounted wall heaters for winter but it is easy and fresher to modulate the temperature of the house by managing the airflow via opening the windows in the mornings and evenings. When the mistral winds kick up, you'll want to use the door stops!
Please note there are no cafés or shops in walking distance of the house.
