Nice to come back

Great location - a short drive to the beaches of Gorleston-on-Sea or Great Yarmouth, perfect exploring the countryside and it is right on top of a golf course and Redwings horse sanctuary. This is our second time staying here so It was nice the see the property has been cared for (Upgrades in the bathroom, new paint job and some new games). We also discovered that excellent and reasonably priced food is available at the clubhouse Thursday-Sunday. Great family friendly retreat.

Perfect getaway in Norfolk

We very much enjoyed our time at the cabin, Teresa was very accommodating and made up the beds on the mezzanine floor for us, and was always quick to answer any queries on messenger. We traveled with a family member who was in a wheelchair and she found it very easy to get around the cabin and could easily get in the kitchen and main bathroom. The golf estate it was on was very peaceful and lovely. My children loved feeding the ducks and fish in the many lakes. It was the perfect location for all activities in Norfolk and very close to many towns. We loved the beach at Gorleston on sea. We would visit again. The only negative was all the flys in the cabin, not sure where they were coming from but they were there when we checked in and never left.

September 2021

we loved the peaceful surroundings and would have been happy to spend all our time in the property! It was also very close to numerous places to visit. Our elderly parents enjoyed the horse sanctuary and the nearby garden centre. We would definitely recomend a stay here.

Disappointing

Lovely location.we arrived on the Saturday went over to the club house to enquire about the time table for the swimming pool to be told by the barman that it would not be open until September. The following Friday 6 days later the security man came to see to aks us when we wanted to use the pool apparently it had been open all week he also told us we could have used the pool at a nearby complex. This was very disappointing my grand children were very upset. The communication was very poor.

Wonderful wood property

We chose this property due to its location close to Great Yarmouth and the Waveney Valley. We hadn’t realized the bonus of being in the Caldecott Hall estate - Redwings Horse sanctuary, Oliver’s tea (and ice cream) shoe and potential for golf lessons. Checkin (and out) was super simple. This uncomplicated approach was matched by the ergonomic layout of the wooden chalet property. The weather wasn’t great during our stay though when it rained we had plenty of space and things to do indoors - great selection of games and some familiar DVDs that would have been good for younger kids. Thanks for a great stay.

A stunning comfortable property

We enjoyed our stay at Idre. The property is stunning and in a wonderful location with lots to do. We felt relaxed and comfortable throughout our stay and all slept incredibly well. The only two negatives were that we couldn't get the sauna to work and the nearby spa and pool were closed as short staffed due to Covid19. Although we appreciate the later was out of the owners control. We were disappointed that the sauna wasn't working. The owner very kindly sent a gift to compensate, which was a lovely gesture though.

Summer stay

This is a lovely spacious property perfect for a family stay. It was very well equipped and had all of the facilities needed for an enjoyable week. Location-wise it is a short drive into Great Yarmouth and very close to the Broads. It is also close to the Suffolk border. We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend the property without hesitation.

Lovely place to stay - great views of golf course

We enjoyed our stay at this property - the outdoor space is great in the sun overlooking the 18th and 1st hole of the golf course. Teresa responded promptly to questions. Check in process very easy. Kitchen is well equipped. The shower is in the en-suite - would be good to have a shower in the main bathroom but can work around it. Would definitely recommend.

Christmas Stay

Thoroughly enjoyed stay at Lodge. The lodge was very clean and everything we needed was provided including tree fairy lights and carving set for turkey ! The sauna was added bonus. Great place to stay in terms of walks and scenery overlooking golf course, very quiet and relaxing . Great base for sightseeing. We spent a day in Southwold only around 30 minutes away . Thank you for great holiday .

Beautiful views

We stayed at the lodge for 3 nights during our twins graduation. The lodge was clean and spacious, with wonderful views over the golf course. It was very peaceful and very relaxing. However, on our arrival we discovered there was no hot water. Whilst the owner was easy to contact and offered some suggestions to try to remedy this we did spend our whole time at the lodge with no hot water. We were advised that an emergency plumber couldn’t attend until after we had left. There was a spa about 100 yards from the lodge where we were able to shower, but this was inconvenient for 4 ladies and as we had to leave so early on 2 mornings the spa/gym wasn’t open and we had to cold shower. We were offered compensation by the owner for the inconvenience.

Airy, spacious, well-equipped and clean! Perfect for two adults and four children.

The property is well-kept and features everything we needed for our week-long stay. Plenty of games and entertainment for the children on rainy days and the well-equipped kitchen also played host to a baking afternoon! The utility room was a welcome space to sort out sandy beach gear. The sauna too, was perfect for warming up after seaside fun. Location is accessible, near to coastal resorts within 15 - 45 minutes depending on where you’re heading. There’s a Tesco express just a couple of miles away for all the essentials and emergency top-ups, and other major supermarkets a little further but within striking distance. All in all, we enjoyed coffee on the veranda every morning, whilst watching golfers driving up the fairway! There’s a small spa and fitness club next door, although we didn’t use the facilities on this occasion. The owner was easy to communicate with via the HomeAway app during our stay and replied quickly. We would definitely recommend this charming Scandinavian lodge to anyone looking for an accessible base to explore the Norfolk coast and countryside. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
