Gretna Green stations (closed and open), 1997. View westward, towards Dumfries etc.: ex-G&SWR Carlisle - Dumfries - Glasgow main line. The original station, in the immediate foreground, was closed 6/12/65 and soon after the main line was singled to Annan. However, on 20/9/93 a new station was built a short distance to the west - with a single platform as seen, but when the line was doubled again in 2008 another platform was provided on the Down side. Over to the left is the A75 road to Dumfries and Stranraer.
