Fantastic location with lots of shops and eateries just outside of hotel. Hotel staff is very helpful but hotel itself is very basic. The shower has no door/ curtain and is with the toilet inside the bathroom. So the toilet gets wet after a shower. Wash basin is outside of bathroom. They provide only shampoo and shower gel, there is no conditioner. There is no phone, fridge or TV in the room. If you need to phone someone in Guangzhou, you can ask front desk to call for you. There is a self-serve laundry room on 2nd floor with a modern standing steam iron there. You can check status of the washers and dryers from the comfort of your room.

Upon entering the hotel I was greeted by a nicely themed chinese hotel. My check-in timing was supposed to be at 2pm. When I arrived at the hotel, the room that I booked was not available so they "upgraded" me to a bigger room. I can't say I like the room. Corridors were a little gloomy and dark. The rooms were alright though. They were clean. What I couldn't stand however was the sewage smell that emanated from the toilet, and it was really really strong. Since shower area was small, toilet bowl would be wet after bathing. One thing really strange that happened was that when I used the toilet in the morning, the toilet bowl seat and ground was rather wet again, like someone had taken a shower an hour or so before. I remember clearly that I used the toilet before bed and it had already significantly dried from our shower that night. Initially I thought that my friend had showered in the morning but she said that she had not gone into the toilet at all since after her shower the night before. Creepy. Other than that, the location was pretty good with quite a bit of food options and a shopping street just downstairs. There were also quite a few bubble tea shops too which was a plus! Note that as the hotel is situated inside the "shopping square", cars are not allowed in. We had to alight right outside Luckin Coffee. But it was just short walk away. There were military people patrolling so it seemed quite safe.

Great value for a 3-star hotel and the staff were very helpful! I stayed here a few times in November during my month-long China trip. The majority clientele are international tourists because you can easily reserve on 3rd party websites, and is located in a convenient location - Guangzhou's Old Town (Liwan). Very close to attractions in Old Town, shopping, food, and cheap DiDi rides to anywhere in the the city. Includes breakfast which has a good variety of items, free laundry service, and was very convenient to store my extra luggage while I went on overnight trips outside of Guangzhou. Walking distance to the original Tau Tau Ju restaurant for dim sum and Nanxin for the city's best steamed double skin buffalo milk dessert. Just a few things to be aware of: The staff knows limited english, but the use of translation technology makes communication easier. Some rooms have more wear and tear than others, but overall are fairly clean. No big deal for me since I was only there to sleep. Shower is over the toilet. The twin room is loft style where you need to climb steps to get to the second bed, and can be cramped with 3 adults, or if you have more than 3 large luggages. About half of the rooms faces an alleyway or the adjacent buildings so there will be no views or sunlight. To avoid this, request a room that is at a higher level and towards the back of the building.

Cheap stay in an only OK area. It’s a shopping street but all the shops appear to sell the same stuff and it’s very generic. Far from the nearest train stations and taxis cannot take you to the door, they have to drop you off 600-800m away. Breakfast was very basic but free, service was excellent. Overall good for the money.

Alright, let me tell you about this hotel – it totally won me over. The service was so warm and the rooms were spotless, which made me feel right at home. But the real kicker? The location is absolutely unbeatable. You can easily swing by Yongqing Fang to soak up the old-school Xiguan vibe, and then hop over to Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street whenever a craving for authentic local snacks hits. Seriously, if you're looking for a great place to stay, this is it.

My recent stay at the Starry Sky Observatory Inn in Guangzhou was an absolutely magical experience from start to finish. This charming boutique inn offered the perfect escape from the city noise while remaining conveniently close to the main attractions. The undeniable highlight was the breathtaking stargazing terrace on the rooftop, which, complete with telescopes and cozy seating, provided a stunning evening retreat even amidst the city's glow. My room was both stylish and incredibly comfortable, featuring modern amenities, soft lighting, and a very comfortable bed that guaranteed a great night's sleep. The staff truly made the stay exceptional with their friendly and attentive service, always ready with excellent local recommendations for food and sightseeing. Its location was ideal, situated in a peaceful neighborhood yet just steps away from cafes, shops, and public transportation, offering the best of both worlds. Each morning began with a delicious and fresh breakfast that perfectly fueled a day of exploration. Overall, the inn delivers a unique and wonderful experience that standard hotels can't match, and I can't wait to return—I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Guangzhou.

My first trip to Guangzhou has been fantastic, especially with this hotel! Its location is absolutely unbeatable – I enjoyed morning tea at Guangzhou Restaurant and explored Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street in the evening. The best part? Whenever I felt tired, I could easily return to my room for a quick break. The staff were incredibly helpful too, enthusiastically recommending unique local spots around the area.

This was actually my second booking at this hotel, and I’m happy to say the experience was just as good as the first time. The staff were, once again, incredibly friendly and helpful - they even allowed an early check-in, which I really appreciated. The room was clean, comfortable, and free from any cigarette smell, which is a big plus for us. Breakfast was included and generous, and the overall service felt consistent with my previous stay. Just like before, the small lane leading to the hotel has a bit of an odor, but once you’re inside, it’s quiet and very comfortable. The location is super convenient, right in the middle of a walking street with easy access to food and shops. I’d definitely recommend this place and will keep coming back whenever I’m in the area.

The staff here were really amazing. They let us check in early, which was super helpful since we were traveling with kids. The room was clean and, most importantly, didn’t smell like cigarettes like other hotels in China - something I really appreciate. When the room we booked wasn’t ready yet, they upgraded us for free, which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was included and quite generous. The only small downside is that the hotel is located on a walking street, so the view from the room isn’t great. Also, the small road leading to the hotel has a bit of a bad smell sometimes. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made everything easy. I’d definitely stay here again.

My one night at this Guangzhou hotel was absolutely fantastic! The Lingnan theme was so charming—carved wooden details and traditional decorations made it feel authentic yet cozy. The staff were friendly, offering hot Chinese tea on check-in and free coffee later—such nice touches! The 10th-floor observation deck was the highlight. Afternoon views of the busy pedestrian street were great, and the night view with twinkling lights and cool breeze was even better. One night was too short, but this stay made my Guangzhou trip unforgettable!

The minute I stepped through the door of this hotel, I was instantly drawn to its old Xiguan charm—not the cheap, forced kind of vintage you sometimes see, but the real deal. The Manchurian windows cast soft, elegant light into the space, and the patterned floor tiles had a nice texture underfoot; even small decor pieces in the corners felt like little tributes to old Guangzhou. My parents loved it even more. They kept pointing out little details as we walked around, saying it was so much cozier and more interesting than the sterile, impersonal modern hotels we usually stay in. Wandering down the hallways, with that warm, nostalgic atmosphere, it almost felt like we’d stepped back in time to the old Xiguan neighborhood life—such a cool touch for our trip!

I stayed at Stargazing Platform Inn recently, and it totally exceeded my expectations. The second I arrived, the staff were warm—we used a translation app to get past the language gap, but they still helped with everything I needed. I’ve stayed in bigger hotels elsewhere, but none felt this nice. The room was spacious, spotless, and cozy—great bed, and they cleaned it daily. Breakfast was solid tooalso provides black coffee. They recommended local spots, helped with transport, and the front desk team was awesome! 💛 The location’s perfect—close to shops/restaurants but quiet for sleep. The rooftop at night was a highlight, and they even brought me hot tea up there every day. Overall, 100% recommend for anyone in Guangzhou. It’s well-run with top-notch service, and I’ll definitely be back!"
