Nice rural location, nice welcome from hostes with estate wine, breakfast in the veranda was excellent with personalized choices. No air conditioning was an issue for us, windows helped but allowed for mosquitoes and insects to enter.
Staying in this place is like going back 300 years in time. The manor is well kept. The room was large and clean and the lady who received us charming and helpful.
The surrounding gardens are beautiful.
I wish we could have stayed longer
A very lovely place with centuries of history, well preserved and very authentic. We loved to stay in the big garden with pool, and to have both the breakfast and dinner on the beautiful and spacious veranda. Sezim is also a wine producer (vinho verde), we tasted some as the welcome drink and can absolutely recommend this as well. They sell the wines from the reception.
Loved the experience of staying in a casa that's been in one family for 30 generations the grounds are amazing the staff very helpful the food was very good the rooms were spacious and comfortable but a little tired overall I enjoyed my stay and would return. You must take taxi to village which is very charming taxis are reasonable. Train station close. B
An interesting place. Same family ownership for over 30 generations. Difficult to maintain such an old facility but they try hard and it has a certain old world charm. Very quiet place due to its remoteness and made for wonderful sleep.
Casa de Sezim is a bit rustic but it is really exiting and wonderful to stay in a courtyard style 14th century winemaker's villa.
Excellent breakfast. Award winning wines at the honor bar. Easy 15 minute access by taxi to the historic Medieval section of Guimareas with its castles and several great restaurants.
Beautiful ancient buildings and exceptional grounds. Off the beaten track but a little hard to find with Google maps. Their own Vinho Verde wine was delicious. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It is a gem.
For no more than the price of a good hotel you are welcomed into a real home, a working winery, surrounded by the accumulated precious personal objects and taste that reflect the place and its culture. Nothing is artificial, or put on for show. Our room was spacious and comfortable and cool on a scorching day, without airconditioning. The pool and the grounds are relaxing and beautiful. You'll need a GPS to find it, but its only a short ride from major roads and Guimaraes. The wine, the bradkfast, and the dinner we were served were all delicious. If you are looking for somewhere made-over and modern, this is not for you. That kind of luxury can be easily bought. This kind can't.
