Beautiful & Relaxing - Waterfront Cottage 6 Mi. from Gulf Shores - Fort Morgan

**The house's pier was damaged during Hurricane Sally, but should be fixed by March 2021.**

Bordering the Fort Morgan National Wildlife Preserve, the Little House by the Bay is a perfect place to relax, get away, and just let the world go by. Located on 2 acres, with 150 feet of waterfront on beautiful and historic Mobile Bay. This is a great place to fish, crab, or enjoy the nearby white sandy beaches. The location is secluded and very private, although high levels of activities are just a few minutes away.

A short drive across highway 180 and you are on the beautiful white sandy public beaches adjacent to the National Wildlife Preserve. Enjoy the blue water and surf during the day, and in just a few minutes, you are back at the Little House by the Bay.

The property includes a 130-foot pier to fish, crab and sunbathe. If you are a boater, you can moor your boat 150' offshore at mooring posts and wade in waist-deep. By boat, you are just a 20-minute boat ride from Lulu Buffet's Bar and Grill and all the sites of Gulf Shores. Further to the East on the intercoastal, and you are at Orange Beach and Perdido Pass.

A 16-mile boat ride to the West will put you at Fort Morgan and the Mouth of Mobile Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. A bit further West and you are at Dauphin Island. Some of the best in-shore and off-shore fishing and crabbing are right at your fingertips.

The Little House by the Bay is a 1,000 square foot cottage with a large great room (den kitchen) and a very large bedroom with a king-size bed, a twin bed, and a bunk bed. The couch is also comfortable and blow up mattresses can be put in the den. There is bed sleeping for 5, and room a for a few others. The house has been recently refurbished inside and out and is nicely appointed, with fine furnishings and all the modern amenities.

My wife and I wanted to take our dogs to the beach. It was also my wifes 50th birthday and our 30th anniversary. I picked this because the house was ground level, it had green grass instead of just sand, and it was on the bay side. My elder dog with bad hips did not need to climb the hurricane stairs of most houses. I hate sand so a yard was awesome. The bay for me is always more exciting than the Gulf. This did not disappoint. The house is fairly secluded, good fishing, and dolphins morning and evening. Sometimes the dolphins were within 30 yards. The house was clean and very user frindly. I would definitely stay there again. Beware of slipery old boat ramp, very slick. My wife found out the hard way. Thank you.

Awesome Place

This little cottage is amazing! Secluded and ducked away from the busy Gulf Shores area, but still conveniently close to everything. We watched some amazing sunrises and sunsets. We will definitely come back!

Relaxing and Quiet!

We had such a wonderful time at this property! The men loved fishing and crabbing off the dock. They caught things every day, so we were able to enjoy several seafood dinners. The dolphins swam past mid-morning and before sunset most days. The owners were accommodating and quick to respond to messages. The kitchen was well stocked. We look forward to returning.

Tucked Away

This place is in my top 3 of vacation rentals now!The house is well stocked. The AC is COLD and the water gets HOT! The beds were comfortable and we slept well.The real beauty of the property comes from its location. It's nestled among plant life and has a wonderfully large yard. Driving under the moss-covered oaks and seeing the bay just beyond the house was an amazing sight. We spent so much time on the screened-in lanai listening to the birds and insects. We were visited by a red fox one morning and saw numerous herons, terns and pelicans. We saw geckos, crabs and dolphins on the property and off the pier. We were a 15- to 20-minute drive from anything we wanted to do. The host even left driving directions for the one dog-friendly gulf-side beach in the area (under 15 minutes).For nature lovers, the Bon Secour trails close by are beautiful and perfect for birding and unplugging. Gulf State Park is really close and offers ebikes to do their numerous paved "trails." There were even places close by where you could rent kayaks and beach gear and have it delivered. The Dauphin Island ferry is right down the road at Fort Morgan. The wifi is a little weak for streaming for those rainy or too-hot afternoons, but who cares when you're so close to many activities! Oh, and there will be sand on the tile floor. The broom came in very handy!

Blizzard on the Bay

My favorite place to vacation is the Little House on the bay. We've been there several times. It has always been excellent. It's quiet secluded the way I like it close to everything that I like. Great fishing and lots of activities close by. Unfortunately this time I was trapped by a blizzard and had to leave early. Otherwise, I love this place and will continue to go recommend to everyone

Secret hideaway

We spent several days here for our 15th wedding anniversary. No issues. We enjoyed the great sunset views from the dock. We were far enough from everything to feel secluded but close enough to do anything we wanted in Gulf Shores. Our fur kids enjoyed the large yard and spending time with us in the screened-in porch during the cooler parts of the day. This was also the most well-stocked vacation rental we've stayed in and we've stayed in several! We've discussed coming back for a longer stay for our 16th anniversary next year.
