The Hoi Toider @ Harkers Island

The "Hoi Toider" gets it's name from the traditional King's English still spoken by local residents. Harkers Island has the honor of hosting both the Cape Lookout National Seashore Visitor Center and the Core Sound Waterfowl and History Museum along its shores, making it a very special stop during any Crystal Coast trip. The "Hoi Toider" is located one block away from the closest marina to Cape Lookout (Cape Point, $15 launch fee). Free Public Access ramps 2 miles away at the Harkers Island Bridge.

This clean home comfortably sleeps 7.
Includes a full kitchen, laundry, and 2 full baths. Enjoy lounging on the huge screened porches on the front and back of the home (perfect for kids camp-outs). Large, well-lit covered wash down area in back, big enough for two boats. Huge yard with plenty of parking.

Harkers Island is supported by 3 restaurants and multiple grocery and convenience stores. For the vacationer, this is a great place to bring your bikes or enjoy quiet walks.

For the boater, this is paradise with quick access to Cape Lookout, Beaufort, and Morehead City. Monthly rate available upon request.

My family loved our stay at the Hoi Toider! The house was so fresh and clean upon our arrival. Check in was super easy. I did cook our meals and found the kitchen to be fairly well stocked. Just make sure you bring some paper plates. ;) We spent our days boating and fishing, and the house is in great proximity to various boat ramps. Chris was so kind to share some location tips to help us on the windier days. The covered area in the backyard is well lit and great for cleaning fish even after dark. Can’t wait to for another stay!

Very nice house

The house in a great location on the island. Very clean and well kept. Plenty of room and it's very nice that they add little amentities like the covered boat parking. Plenty of cooking utensils and are even nice enough to leave little things like spices and condiments. Would definitely stay again.

Great time at Paw Paw John‘s Hoi Toider!

Our stay was perfect! Leading up to the trip, Chris was amazing with communication. He answered all our questions and emailed us a Welcomed Book before our arrival, which ensured our check in & stay were seamless. The house was clean and well laid out! The huge porches on this house are what make it! We sat on the front porch & ate meals with the sound of the ocean in the background. The breeze from the porches was fantastic. This was our first stay on Harkers Island and we can’t wait to come back and stay at The Hoi Toider again! While we were there, we spent time in Beaufort & Morehead City. We’d booked an off shore charter out of Atlantic Beach, that’s what brought us to the area this time- the property was convenient to all of these locations. The beach on the sound at Harker’s Island is adorable and perfect for small kids since there are no big waves!!Perfect getaway! We feel lucky to have found this property!

Harkers Island Fishing Trip

The Hoi Toider is a great place for us to fish the Cape Lookout area. We put our boat in at Cape Pointe Marina when we can get to the jetty. When the wind is blowing hard, we put in at the public boat ramp so we can fish the marshes on the back of Shackleford Banks. The house is always clean and can comfortably accommodate five adults. A great fish cleaning station is available under a large carport. The kitchen is well stocked so you won't have to bring any pots and pans with you. This was our fifth year renting the house and we plan to be back next year!

Our second visit to this property

Half of our group of 8 fishermen stayed at this property for the second time. It is, clean, roomy and has all the amenities one would expect except a dishwasher. The property is large with lots of room for parking and is in a quiet neighborhood which is located near where we needed to meet our fishing guides each morning. The owners kept in contact during our stay and are easy to work with.

3rd stay...planning a 4th

This is our 3rd time renting this property and cannot wait to get another trip planned. We brought our boat this time and it was an excellent decision. It was a rainy week thanks to hurricane season, but we still managed a few boat rides in and had an amazing time. The house is cozy, SPOTLESS, and in a very quiet neighborhood. Owners are the nicest and always quick to respond.

Great Stay on Harkers Island

Great, clean, comfortable home perfect for small to medium size families. This is a quiet out of the way place to stay away from some of the busy beach towns, but with quick access to Cape Lookout and within half an hour of some other great towns along the coast. Not sure why a hot tub is listed as we did not see one anywhere on the property.
