Quintessential seaside cottage in beautiful Pott's Point
If you are looking for an authentic Maine vacation on the coast, you will absolutely love this quintessential seaside cottage in South Harpswell, Maine. Step back in time to Gull's Rest....A charmingly renovated, 100-year-old Victorian gingerbread cottage located on a quiet lane in the desirable summer community of Pott's Point. From the covered wrap around porch, you'll enjoy the smell of the sea, the feel of refreshing ocean breezes, the beauty of glorious sunrises, the sounds of lobster boats at work and seagulls at play. Swim, kayak, explore the tidepools at Pott's Point Preserve, curl up with a book, or just sit and savor the quiet long views of the multiple nearby islands.
Inside, this cottage has been freshly painted and lovingly decorated to reflect its coastal charm. The first floor features a living room, dining room with seating for 4-6, updated bathroom with walk-in shower, and a small, but fully functional kitchen. The four bedrooms, featuring brand new mattresses, are all located on the second floor and are named for islands in the vicinity: Eagle Island Room (queen bed), Haskell Island Room (two twin beds), Pinkham Island Room (ocean view twin bed), and Bailey Island Room (ocean view full/double bed).
Located near the end of a peninsula, you'll appreciate being able to walk to Pott's Point Preserve as well as the public boat launch and dock. The Dolphin Marina & Restaurant and Erica's Seafood are just a short 10-minute drive from the cottage, too. You're a scenic 14 mile ride from Bailey Island restaurants like Sundrenched and Cook's Lobster & Ale House. Brunswick (12 miles) boasts the Maine State Music Theater, and is home to Bowdoin College, which offers the Peary-MacMillan Artic Museum and Museum of Art, and hosts an annual summer International Music Festival. Brunswick's bustling Maine Street offers a variety of fine dining options and food trucks, charming shops, a farmer's market and grocery stores. If you want to explore the area, Gull's Rest is a perfect location for your home base. Freeport, home to L.L. Bean's Flagship Store and numerous outlet stores, is just a 35-minute drive. The Old Port in Portland, which features restaurants and shopping, is also less than an hour south. To the north, visit Bath (22 miles) with its charming Main Street and Maine Maritime Museum, Boothbay Harbor (45 miles) and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, and Rockland (66 miles) and the Farnsworth Art Museum. Scenic Popham Beach State Park (36 miles) and Reid State Park (36 miles) are the closest sandy beaches. Options for day trips are endless, but regardless of where you roam, you'll appreciate retreating to the comforts of Gull's Rest.

Slightly rustic, but with all the amenities you will need. Very comfortable. Neighbors are close and parking space is limited/small. Otherwise, good spot for a home base from which to explore.
Serene views with a great location on the water. The house had everything you need, beds were comfortable-great little cottage for a relaxing getaway! Definitely would recommend for the scenic drives out to dinner and great restaurants within 10-25 minutes for fresh lobster dishes!
My wife and I booked this for wedding anniversary and the trip was fantastic partly because of this property. The house is cozy and right on the harbor. Very private and quiet. Everything was very clean and orderly. We wish it would have had a king size bed and a fire pit outside but otherwise it was perfect. Communication with the host was spectacular and they gave great recommendations on things to do.
The Gull's Rest cottage was clean, organized, and just as pictured and described. The view of the bay was perfect. Such a treat to drink coffee on the porch in the morning. It was unusually hot and humid the week we were there so we were very grateful for the fans upstairs and down. The cottage is wonderfully decorated with soothing colors and many appealing reminders of the seaside locale. The wrap-around porch is an amazing treat with several areas for BBQ, table space, birdwatching, reading -- marvelous spaces for any of the above. We played games, ate outside, read in comfy chairs and generally enjoyed the amazing views. It would have been wonderful to have had the beds made up when we arrived, as our arrival was approx. 11pm after lengthy drives. (Thank you, Marcie, for answering the very late, slightly panicky phone call! And for your warm greeting at such an hour.). We highly recommend this cottage for families or individuals looking for a convenient, welcoming Maine retreat.
