The Wild Iris Mountain Lodge is accessible all year; our 2700 square foot home offers 2 master bedrooms with king-sized beds and Smart TV’s, one additional bedroom with a bunk bed, and one office with a futon. Our fully-stocked kitchen and eating area, including a wrap-around deck with 3 areas to grill and dine outside, 3 full bathrooms, a game room equipped with a full-sized pool table, adjacent to a home-theater room, featuring a 75 inch ultra high definition smart TV, accommodates at least 7 guests with a comfortable and fun get-away. Approximately 2 hours from Colorado Springs and a bit over 2 hours from Denver, The Wild Iris Mountain Lodge affords its guests solitude yet accessibility to a myriad of activities for your entire group.


Notice - this property offers a truly remote and alpine experience at 9,600 ft above sea level, which offers unparalleled night-sky views. If you are coming from lower elevations, prepare to adjust to the thin air. Also, inclement weather can occur in the winter months at which time we recommend all wheel drive for the county-maintained 7-mile gravel road.

We came for a relaxing getaway for our anniversary and needed a place that would work for my husband after ankle surgery. We loved the open floor plan! The kitchen was thoroughly stocked with all the appliances and tools we could use. Everything was nicely decorated and comfortable. Our dog got his sniff on and enjoyed exploring! The view was great! Most of the time it was sunny and we could see all the mountains to the north but we woke up to a couple of heavy fog banks in the distance hiding all the mountains. It was beautiful! We enjoyed it!While it was just the 3 of us it would be a great place for 2 families or a very large group! Thanks for letting us share the place!

We absolutely loved our stay! The home was beautiful, spacious, and spotless, plenty of room for well over six people. The beds were super comfy and made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The setting is perfectly secluded with breathtaking mountain views and total tranquility. The dirt roads are solid (not muddy), though there are some washboard sections, but it’s worth it for the peace and quiet you get once you arrive. The property and neighbors were wonderfully quiet, and the house was well-equipped with everything we needed. It’s about 15 minutes from the route road, so it feels like a true getaway without being too far from town, give or take 25 to 30 minutes as listed. Pictures don't do it justice! We would 100% recommend this place and would definitely stay again!

WOW!! This place is badass!!! Perfect for pets and the amount of space we had couldn’t have been more perfect for a birthdays vacation!! The spa was awesome, taking a bath everyday was amazing. The beds were so comfortable, the pool table was awesome! For one place, we felt we had so much space and so much to do for the times we decided to stay in and cozy up :) The location was perfect for us, for peace and quiet and a pretty drive into town. I would love to stay here again if given the opportunity! Thank you so much for everything!

Absolutely gorgeous place. Was able to ride straight to Salida for lunch without trailering. Very clean, comfortable, and I will be renting again. This is one of those hidden gems of the area. Host is very responsive and friendly.

Amazing views

This property has incredible mountain views and is perfect for the travelers seeking peace, relaxation, and some good times with the ones you love. The property is quite remote, but that is why we loved it. There is still plenty to do—play horseshoes, relax out in the shack or the sauna, listen to the birds or stargaze on the deck, play pool or one of the many games available. Very comfortable, cozy & enjoyable!

Fantastic location to explore around Buena Vista

The house was very clean and the check-in process was very easy. Todd had excellent communication and provided detail steps on how to use the sauna and other things within the house. We appreciate that they had some basic kitchen necessities like flour, sugar and spices. The sky at night was filled with stars and was really beautiful as well as the sauna was great after a long day hiking in the mountains, we also really like the big screen TV in the basement and the access to Netflix and Disney+.

Beautiful location, lovely house, long dirt road, some maintenance issues.

Everything was as described and the property was very clean and well-equipped. The washer and dryer are nice, there are lots of seasonings in the kitchen, and we had several days’ worth of Keurig cups to get us going. We loved sitting on the deck, watching for wildlife (even saw a bobcat!), and enjoying the beautiful interior of the home. We had a wonderful 10 days in the fall, watching the leaves change before our eyes. Took photos of the stars and Milky Way, changing leaves, and bluebirds! The 7 miles of dirt road to get to the house wore thin on us over 10 days so we won’t book so rural next time when we know we want to go places during our stay. There were some maintenance issues that we will share privately with the owner so they can be fixed.

Good times at the Cabin

Stayed here with my Father, and it was a great base camp for our adventures in and around the Buena Vista area. Super clean, super nice, and the hosts are wonderful. Plenty of space for lots of people, and the barrel sauna is particularly lovely. Highly recommend!

You will LOVE it here!

OK, I am biased because my family already has a cabin in the area, but we were thrilled to host our family reunion with the help of Todd and his beautiful home! Half of our family stayed with us, the other half in Todd's cabin. It was clean, had plenty of things to keep the teenagers busy and they LOVED the sauna. The views are outstanding. Truly, this is the best area if you want the beauty and the piece and quiet that comes with the mountains. You are close to so many cool towns, rafting is near by, world-class fly fishing, you name it! We highly recommend this location and working with Todd is fantastic!!!

Great time!

My family enjoyed the stay here! Lots of room and everything you could need. My kids enjoyed the pool table and there were plenty of games to play. The sauna was an added bonus. Beautiful views all around. About 30 min from Buena Vista, which had plenty of places to eat and great rafting options. Lots of 14ers around as well. We ended up hiking Mt. Sherman, which was about an hour away. From Mt. Sherman, we ate in Fairplay, then about 30 min back to the cabin. I would definitely stay here again!
