A pretty, modern, pet-friendly Pembrokeshire holiday cottage converted from what was once the smithy and smithâs cottage. Set on the hillside leading up to the hilltop village of Mathry, it is cosy, comfortable and features exposed stone walls and a high vaulted ceiling. The spacious kitchen/dining room is a lovely, welcoming family room with open plan stairs leading to a galleried loft bedroom over the kitchen. The owner, who lives in the adjoining, but completely separate cottage, has hand-crocheted beautiful bedspreads for every bed. Leading off the kitchen to the rear is a sun room and gravelled outdoor dining area with table and chairs. The living room (two steps down from the kitchen) has an open fire and a piano for those who are musically inclined to enjoy! The village pub is just a short walk from the property and is a traditional village pub offering a warm welcome and good pub food.
There is wonderful walking and cycling country with easy access either on foot or by car to the numerous coves and beaches along the Pembrokeshire National Park Coastal Path - a beach loverâs paradise. Walk through National Trust Broom Wood to the twin beaches of Abermawr and Aberbach (dogs are welcome all year round), it is never crowded on account of limited parking and a quarter of a mile walk to each.
A spacious 2 bed cottage in lovely countryside location. 2.5 mile picturesque walk to small beach.
Helpful owner next door.
Good coffee shop in village.
This holiday cottage suited us really well. The location is excellent, with easy access to lots of Pembrokeshire coastline and activities, and Mathry is a nice village with great pub. The cottage was really spacious, with a great kitchen diner, separate lounge and sun room, and good sized ground floor bedroom (double) and mezzanine bedroom (twin). But there was quite a lot that was a bit shabby or needed updating - lighting incredibly dim in some rooms, sofa/armchairs in lounge musty and threadbare, microwave and oven very dated, central heating a bit dodgy (cottage was lovely and warm except when the boiler broke down for half a day ... but quickly repaired by Anthony). In summary, we loved the location and spaciousness of the cottage, and Anthony and Tina were welcoming (including local bread, milk and eggs for us on arrival); it was perfect for 2-4 people with dogs, who are happy with somewhere that is comfortable rather than spotless and up-to-date. We'd happily go again.
Guter Ausgangspunkt, um diverse KĂŒstenabschnitte auf dem Coast Path zu erkunden. Das Cottage hatte alles notwendige, was man braucht. Tina war sehr hilfsbereit und das Willkommenspaket war sehr lecker. Der Wintergarten war unser beliebtester Aufenthaltsort und sehr gemĂŒtlich.
