Beebole Cottage, cosy Dales home nr Askrigg, Bainbridge & Hawes, sleeps 2

Beebole is a charming stone built traditional Dales cottage nestled in the pretty hamlet of Countersett, above the stunning Lake Semerwater, 5 minutes drive from Bainbridge and Askrigg and 10 minutes from Hawes. Built in the 17th century, the cottage was originally a cheese room/dairy and a store for bee skeps which were used for honey and beeswax. The cottage, although small, has been fully updated with LPG central heating, quality furnishings and a new shower room with powerful thermostatic shower and well equipped kitchen. with all mod cons including oven, grill, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave etc. There is a large woodburner in the living room to keep you cosy. There is a private garden behind the house and plenty of parking. Sleeps 2 in a king size bed with pocket sprung mattress. Bluetooth speaker, smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Video and other apps, books and walking guides available to borrow. Milk, biscuits and wine on arrival and tea/coffee/sugar sachets. Travel toiletries included, along with complimentary basket of logs, kindling and firelighters. *Search Countersett Hall for direct details, discounts and further information*
Please note; map location is not quite correct, the cottage is located opposite Countersett Hall holiday let. Full directions sent the day before arrival. Secure locked bike storage available.

*Later 12pm/midday checkout offered on all Sunday departures*

Please be aware that there is one low-height doorway from the living area to the back of the cottage, but this is carefully padded and clearly marked. Mobile reception is patchy at the cottage but you will get a better signal by walking uphill or driving down to Bainbridge. We have a landline for emergency calls. We have free wifi*

Countersett Hall (sleeps 7) can be booked with, or separately from, the cottage - ideal for large groups. See our other listing or search Countersett Hall.

Food scene; we can recommend the Yorebridge House Hotel in Bainbridge and Simonstone Hotel near Hawes for formal meals and afternoon tea, The Wensleydale Heifer at West Witton, The Kings Arms pub and The Crown in Askrigg for dinner, The Bake-well Cafe in Askrigg and Cornmill Tearooms in Bainbridge for lunches and takeaway food and fish and chips in Hawes.
Elijah Allen in Hawes sells an excellent range of local foods, there is also a large Spar in Hawes and small grocery shop in Bainbridge, Campbell & Sons in Leyburn excellent for groceries. Large supermarkets at Catterick. Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda will all deliver groceries to the cottage.

Full local information and walking books provided at the cottage. The cottage is a 5-10 minute walk from Lake Semerwater.

Tastefully decorated, exceptionally well-provisioned in the kitchen and shower-room, comfortable and snug, especially with a log-fire in the burner. We found the central-heating a bit of a puzzle as to when it would be on or off but we were warm when we needed to be. We shall definitely return to this cottage, maybe later in the year.

The perfect hideaway in the middle of the Dales
My husband and I needed a few days break away to just relax and enjoy some downtime without racing around. Beebole cottage is the perfect place for a couple who want something cosy and intimate. This one bedroom cottage has all the modern appliances set with in traditional style of stone walls and open wooden beams. The living area is cosy with a log fire which we enjoyed using every day. One bag of logs and kindling were supplied but we bought another bag locally to allow us to indulge. There is a TV with amazon firestick which allowed us to search for films etc. The bedroom has a comfortable bed with ample of storage. The bathroom was of good size and the shower was powerful enough to enjoy. The kitchen had everything that we could possible need and more,. An electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and all the pots pans and crockery we could need to allow us to cook some lovely meals. The cottage was warm and the central heating is easy to use and adjust the temperature throughout the day, and although we had no phone signal on our mobile phones (which was perfect for us for a couple of days) There is wifi in the cottage and a landline phone for emergency use. The cottage is in amongst a couple of other cottages but we found to have no disturbance or noise pollution. The is parking next to the cottage with just a couple of stone steps down to the cottage entrance. During the wet weather the steps were a little slippery with wet leaves so for elderly or frail it would need a little extra care. The area is quite minimal, which is what we wanted although there are plenty of places to visit within a short 15/20 minute drive through the beautiful dales. I would recommend visiting Douglas Castle, this is one of the most informative castles we have visited and we thoroughly enjoyed over an hour of walking, discovering and reading the history of the historical place. Aysgarth Falls is also nearby and whilst we were unable to the Upper and lower falls due to health reasons, we did visit the mid falls which was a short 5 min walk from the car park and enjoyed a lovely cream tea in the cafe. Richmond town is a lovely cobbled town with shops and plenty of tea rooms and i would highly recommend just driving through the breath taking dales to enjoy the peace and views. Overall, I would highly recommend this cottage as the perfect quiet getaway.

Beautiful location
The property is welcoming, with a lot of thought into catering for guests needs, with essential items supplied. The cottage itself is warm and cosy. It sits in a beautiful location with complete peace and quiet. There is plenty of walking opportunities and a lake 5-10 minutes walk away from the cottage. We would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage.
