Lovely cottage in a beautiful area
The cottage was as described and pictured except that the garden was much better than expected. By “large garden” read huge! The children loved it! The walled grass area was great for frisbees and the external garden was good for exploring. As well as this is the patio garden which is included in the pictures.
The cottage itself was very clean with really luxurious bedding and towels. There are a lot of small thoughtful touches like plenty of hooks for coats and a porch which took all the boots so we could keep the cottage clean and nice to pad around in bare feet. There are plenty of leaflets and an OS map to help you explore, plus DVDs and a selection of magazines to help you relax. The bathroom is down stairs so expect trips up and down during the night and with the gabled ceilings in the bedrooms, there were a few bumped heads until we got used to it.
There's a nice walk along the river into Denholm (2km approx) and a local cycle route (leaflet in the cottage) goes past the door so we were able to do that from the cottage. We loved exploring Fatlips castle (amazing views) then having lunch at Born in the Borders (amazing food and grass sledging!) The whole area is lovely and in a week we barely scratched the surface. Lovely comfy property in a beautiful area - I’d definitely visit again.
