Stay at The Collection
I was fortunate to experience all three of the hotels within the The Collection by Liz McGrath on a recent trip to Cape Town and The Garden Route. The Collection had been recommended to me by a friend and certainly did not disappoint! The Marine Hermanus was my second hotel visited after a slow meander from The Plettenberg. After driving for 5 hours, the warm welcome on arrival, right from the security at the gate who were expecting us as we arrived and the team at reception (with a welcome even from the Manager on duty!) was exactly what was needed. Our suite (215) was spacious and we were able to lie in bed and look out the window directly over the ocean, and enjoy our complimentary bottle of red wine! Fortunately we were there for 2 nights and were able to experience both restaurants, Seafood at The Marine and The Pavillion, we opted to have the tasting menu at The Pavillion on the first night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of sitting in a relaxed setting, overlooking the ocean, enjoying top class cuisine! Having enjoyed the fabulous spoils of the night before at The Pavillion, we chose a lighter dish at The Seafood the following evening, equally as good and the novelty of the open show kitchen certainly provided an alternative way of dining, which I had not experienced before.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Marine the staff, setting, food and décor were faultless, the little touches like washing your car for you before you leave make you not want to leave! Our only complaint, there were no whales in the bay however we left feeling that if they could have, the staff would have arranged this for us to!
