Idyllic cottage away from the towns and villages. Situated in a farm, it allowed our family to avoid the noise of modern day living. Warm and welcoming.
Quiet peaceful location to enjoy one another's company and beautiful walks in stunning scenery.
Val was an excellent host, checking that we had everything we needed.
Can definitely recommend
Lovely place, had everything you needed for a short break. The owner Val was a lovely helpful and pleasant lady, will definitely stay at some point in the future
The house was spacious and in a beautiful location. Owner was friendly and helpful, although the extra cost for heating at the end of the stay was a little pricey. Overall, though, we had a lovely time.
Enjoyable, comfortable stay in peaceful scenic location
Comfortable and spacious, with useful enclosed outdoor area for our dog. Well equipped, although for a self catering property 15 minutes drive from nearest shops the fridge is a bit small if there are more than 2 guests staying .
Excellent base for the Hadrian's Wall walk. My wife and her friend walked the wall, I dropped them off and picked them up at the start and end of each leg.
A minor negative, the fridge wasn't big enough for the three of us (the cottage can accommodate 8!), but I had plenty of time to do the food shopping on a daily basis.
Otherwise, we had an enjoyable stay, welcomed by the hostess on the first day and she sorted out any minor niggles during the week (i.e., the DVD player was broken, and she replaced that the following day).
Comfortable homely cottage in amazing location. Highly recommended. Well placed for visiting Hadrians Wall. Well equipped kitchen and 2 bathrooms ensure a fantastic stay for families or 2 couples.
This property worked out perfectly for our family. It was so peaceful and quiet. We slept like babies. We were able to easily explore Hadrian's wall and Roman ruins with beautiful hiking trails located closely by. Val is very sweet and helpful. We had everything we needed. Thank you for our English countryside retreat.
We had a great short break in this spacious cottage. The property is very, very clean and it is well kitted. There is a nice garden at the back with plenty of space to run around. The property can sleep 6 people comfortably, we were only 5. There are two additional beds on the bunk in the main bedroom which will bring the capacity up to 8. However, as Valery told us, they should be used by teenagers (over 14) and not by children, and I believe she is absolutely correct. Valerie is a very gracious host and had prepared a very warm welcome for all of us. The property is very close to all the main attractions in the area. We were very happy with our stay and we would like to recommend this property for a very peaceful and comfortable stay.
We were a group of 2 families walking Hadrian's Wall. We had our own transport and this was perfect - right in the middle of the walk and a cosy base to return to each night.
Val, the host was very easy to talk to & very helpful. The rooms were large enough for 6 & having 2 bathrooms was great, 1 per family.
The top beds in the loft are very much for older children (as the details do state) but ours coped without any problems.
Seeing the lambs around the farm was an added bonus as we came to & fro each day.
The property is quite remote but conveniently situated for some of the best preserved parts of Hadrian's Wall and associated Roman sites. There was plenty of space for 5 of us. Everything was very clean, furniture and carpets were in good condition and beds were comfortable. Despite the central heating it got a little cold on the first night, although it was better on subsequent nights and if we'd made use of the log burner (for which logs and kindling had thoughtfully been provided) it would probably have been fine. The kitchen was overall well equipped, our only minor suggestion would be a few essentials like salt and pepper and at least one large casserole dish suitable for making family meals on the hob.
Amazing setting, lovely secluded farm within a couple of miles of Hadrian's Wall. Contact with host was excellent - we arrived to find the lights and heating on which was a godsend arriving in the dark and howling gale with two small children!
The cottage has everything you would need for a short break - its not luxurious but its all very comfortable. Log burner is a nice touch for when you come back soaked from a walk too. Internet was quite unreliable, although 4g signal around the house was ok
