Some mornings the plan writes itself. Walk down to Mountain Fresh Market for coffee while the town is still quiet. Come back to a vaulted great room with a wood-burning fireplace and a wall of windows full of trees. Settle onto the covered porch under the skylights and let the morning take as long as it wants to.

That's the rhythm this place invites — and once you find it, the week goes by faster than you'd like.

Tucked close to Main Street Highlands with the kind of tree coverage and seclusion that makes it feel considerably further away, this three-bedroom home hits the particular sweet spot that Highlands does better than almost anywhere: genuinely walkable to everything worth doing, genuinely peaceful when you come back.

A Great Room Worth Coming Back To - Vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a stone wood-burning fireplace, and a wall of windows that pull the tree canopy inside — the main living area here is the kind of space that makes you reconsider your plans for the day the moment you sit down in it. Light-filled and open without feeling exposed, warm without feeling heavy, it's a room that works equally well for slow mornings and full evenings and everything in between.

The covered side porch with skylights is the quiet revelation of this property. Great place to stay close to Highlands

This house was perfect for our family of four. It's close enough to town to be able to walk in (with a stroller), and also just far enough away to provide the mountain charm we were looking for. The property manager was also extremely responsive for any questions we had. We would certainly book again.

Great location

This property was clean and just as advertised, located only a short walk (or even shorter drive) to downtown. While the appliances and fixtures are a little dated, everything was in perfect order and we had no issues at all. It was very quiet and comfortable.

Cute little cabin-type mountain house

We enjoyed the stay that this house over the Christmas holiday. The property even had been decorated a bit for Christmas and left us some goodies, which made us feel very welcome. It's a short-enough walk to town, which we really enjoy. The house itself was comfortable and the big windows provided great lighting. The bed linens were nice, and the kitchen well-appointed. Overall a very great place for a small family.

We loved the house.

We loved the house. It was perfect for our needs. The one note I had is about the central air. I don't think the thermostat works. I tried to turn on the air conditioning (although the weather was cool and lovely, I have allergy-induced asthma, and pollen can be a problem for me.) I don't think the AC turned on, and the fan ran constantly although it was set to automatic
