Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is located 18 miles south of Downtown Denver, and has been a city suburb since the early 1980s. Prior to that, Highlands Ranch was a small, detached community based around a mansion built between 1891 and 1904. The mansion is still there today, and a visit there is one of many reasons to book a stay in one of the superb hotels near Highlands Ranch.
Denver International Airport is 40 miles northeast of Highlands Ranch. To get into town on public transport, you'll need to take the airport shuttle into Denver, then change to the light rail network. It's handier to bypass the city and get to Highlands Ranch by car—either a taxi from level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal or a rental, which you can organize from a counter in the terminal building. The biggest attraction is the Highlands Ranch Mansion, the intriguingly designed stately home that is the centerpiece of the town. For some fresh air, visit Paintbrush Park or Springer Park—most hotels in Highlands Ranch are within walking distance of these places. To get out of town, check out Highlands Ranch rental cars and hit the road. The resort town of Colorado Springs is 58 miles to the south, and the Rocky Mountains begin to the west—the Front Range is 90 miles away. The sights of Denver are just a short drive away, and highlights include the City Park, where you can visit the Denver Zoo, the Botanic Gardens, and the Denver Art Museum. If you're having a night out in the party district of Lower Downtown, why not indulge yourself with an overnight stay in one of the best hotels in Denver? You won't regret it!
