Historic charm, all new amenities at Swallow's Rest: West
This two hundred year old post-and-beam farm building has been converted into two elegant, private apartments that share a common entry. Either apartment can be reserved separately, or both can be shared by a group of guests. The property is located in a quiet and picturesque region that is close to many attractions in southern Chester County.
Wonderful location! Set in nice and quite farm country. Beautiful rustic beams in downstairs area. Small kitchen is useful to make a simple breakfast to start your day. Convenient controls for the AC so you can set to temp you like. Beautiful little patio area you relax at the end of the day sipping a glass of wine if you want. Close to shopping area and restaurants. Shirt to the fabulous Long Wood Gardens a must when you are in the area. Had great time there.
This place was just what we were hoping for. Peaceful surroundings, close enough to Kennett Square and Longwood Gardens. We also appreciated the art that was around and it's meaningfulness that was conveyed.
very well appointed 1 bedroom bathroom suite on a beautiful farm. clos to Kennett Square and Long Wood Gardens. off the beaten path but close to shops and fine dining.
We absolutely loved our recent 3-day stay at this charming property in PA. very roomy and open with a small local art gallery space in the front and a patio area overlooking the gorgeous green property. If youâre looking to make some new four-legged friends, the goats will definitely come say hello if you have snacks. The owners couldnât have been nicer or more accommodating. Weâll be back!
Comfortable, clean & lots of fun stuff to do nearby in Kennet Square. Spent a quiet weekend, there were goats to feed & a Pony (& I think!) We enjoyed our stay
Peaceful, bright, and cozy - the detail, care, and design of Swallowâs Rest makes every stay a delight. We wish we had more time to enjoy a longer stay.
We have stayed before at Swallow's Rest. It is peaceful, in the country, and has friendly critters (goats; pony; chickens). It is close to Longwood Gardens and several museums. We love the spot!
We had a wonderful time in PA at Swallowâs Rest West! Everything was perfect for our stay. Location, cleanliness and amenities of apartment canât be beat! Nice, safe and quiet neighborhood! Henry was an awesome host! We visited Longwood Gardens and Kennett Square. Highly recommend this property!! We will definitely be back!
we've stayed here before and always love it! close to Longwood, the Hagley, and Winterthur as well as excellent restaurants, this is a great weekend getaway.
My wife and I have stayed at Swallow's Rest every time we visit PA and love the atmosphere and the quaintness of the West Grove area. Henry is always to pleasure to speak to and makes we have everything we need. We also enjoy the mini art gallery featuring local artist. Highly recommend if you're looking for a charming getaway.
It was more than we expected . Quiet, charming, super clean, and lovely outdoor space . The goats and pony were an added bonus. Thank you to our host Henry for coming to say hello and checking if we needed anything .
Swallow's Rest West was just delightful, and the perfect base for our visit to Longwood Gardens. It was so creatively decorated, had all the amenities needed, and was clean and comfortable. Our host Henry was wonderful. Only thing I would have changed was having an operating window on the upper floor, to let in some fresh, cool air at night. But this was just a minor issue. I would still highly recommend this property.
We enjoyed our stay so much. We were in the area to spend time with our new granddaughter & her parents. The location was great; not too far from Parkesburg. The property was so nice & quiet. It was fun to feed the animals, Cider, the pony, goats & chickens. Henry was so friendly & made us feel right @ home Would definitely stay here again on future visits.
This is the third time weâve stayed at Swallowâs Rest and itâs always great. The location is quiet, the property is comfortable and attractive and the hosts are friendly & helpful.
We enjoy eating out at the Whip, and spent a day at Longwood Gardens this trip. Thereâs a small fridge and a microwave so at-home meals are manageable with a little forethought. Coffee in the morning is easyâ there are always supplies.
Itâs a quick trip from home but lots of things to do and a recharge and change from the city.
It was a positive experience; close to what I needed at Univ Penn New Bolton Center; a nice rural part of the state but there are no services / restaurants very close by (but quite a lot about ~10 minutes away...so not far as well as a good grocery store off of Route 1).
Comfortable bed; nice bathroom with a good shower; seems like recently updated (older house). Parking immediately next door. Close to the road but I didn't notice any significant road noise and it's a minor country road (a spur from a bigger road). Host lives I believe a few hundred yards away and promptly answered a question I had.
If you want to do a lot of cooking for a long stay I would suggest the kitchen and fridge are probably too small for that, but I only needed some breakfast food and snacks so it was fine for me. Coffee maker worked fine.
You need to be able to walk up a flight of steps to access the bedroom/bathroom. TV was Ok but with limited free streaming options. You can use your own subscriptions (Netflix, etc.). Internet worked fine.
Bottom line: convenient for my needs; easy to find; clean updated older home (I suspect) renovated to create two apartments side by side; easy parking; comfortable especially for one or two people. I'd use it as a base for doing things and eating in the area. I would stay here again.
