The property is also a delight for bird enthusiasts with several kererū (New Zealand wood pigeons). Our spacious holiday home is designed with families and groups in mind, offering three beautifully furnished bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, and two cozy lounges where everyone can spread out and relax. Whether you're swapping stories over a family board game, curling up with a good book, or simply gazing out at the majestic mountains, there’s space for everyone to feel right at home.

Rain or shine, there’s plenty to enjoy. On those rare West Coast rainy days, the house is a warm and inviting retreat, perfect for enjoying quality time together. And when the sun is shining, step outside and take advantage of the ample room to ride bikes, play, or simply soak up the tranquility.

You might even spot or hear the kereru (native wood pigeon) as they gracefully swoop through the trees, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.

Mountain View Retreat is equipped with two (2) commercial-sized air conditioning/heat pumps - one in each lounge - ensuring the home stays warm and welcoming in every season.

At the owners’ request and in the interest of safety and care for all our guests, the fireplaces are NOT available for use. There is no firewood supplied or stored at the property for this reason.

We appreciate your understanding, and we’re confident you’ll find the heat pumps keep the whole house cosy and comfortable throughout your stay.

Travelling with an Electric Vehicle?

If you’re travelling with an electric car, you're very welcome to charge it here at the property during your stay. Please bring your own charging cable - a longer one can be helpful, as plug access is usually inside the house.

There’s also a public charging station nearby at New World Hokitika, in case that’s more convenient for you.
