Honesdale is a darling town, where downtown 95% shops and restaurants are privately owned, friendly and creative. This is an artists' region and the Wayne County Arts Alliance has a lovely gallery on Main Street. Restaurants from fine and gourmet dining to family restaurants and quick snacks . There are Micro Breweries and music galore. A number of fun attractions for family fun from Fort Delaware to Lake Wallenpaupack. The Wayne County region also features one of the country's largest concentrations of summer camps, all hidden away in the forests.
Our history is impressive with the coal history, the steam train gravity railroad to the DNH Canal with regional rides (Home of the Stourbridge Lion, 1st locomotive in the US!), Dorflinger glass and a plethora of antique stores throughout the region. Monthly event venues at the Cooperage on Main street and in Central Park, summer County Fair, sidewalk sales, Roots 'n Rhythm festival and the Art Tour. There are many churches and a synagogue. Public pool and fair ground just outside the small town. Beautiful historic houses. Great hiking, biking, boating, hunting and fishing in the region with creeks, rivers, forests and amazing night skies. Several ski resorts (and a side-entrance at the cottage to store your equipment!) and various music performance activities from Country and Blues to choral and classical throughout the year. Shopping center outside of town, hospital 'two hills away'. 45 minutes to Scranton with universities, concert hall, museum, galleries, attractions and sports events. Regional towns with special cultural events. Historic sites, small shops - an ideal vacation and work environment for all ages.
A welcome package with brochures, maps and events will be waiting for you at Grove Cottage!
