One of Maui's popular vacation spots, Papakea is a peaceful Hawaiian Style low rise resort situated on 13 acres right on the ocean just a short walk to north Kaanapali Beach. The lushly landscaped grounds are immaculately maintained and adorned with red ginger and red palms. At dusk, every evening, the magical twinkling tiki lights are lit and reflect on the Koi ponds through-out the property. Papakea's location is as good as it gets! Within minutes, an easy walk to Duke's, shopping center, Farmers Market, coffee shops, sandy beaches, snorkeling and surfing. Canal Repair Project Notice: Papakea Resort will undergo a canal repair project from December 17, 2025 through mid-September 2026. Work will take place Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Guests may experience significant construction noise during these hours. Equipment and materials will be staged along the canal, resulting in limited parking in some areas. Holiday work is not expected.

The best place in the entire resort

Being steps away from the water was awesome. Enjoying the view in the morning from the lanai with a cup of coffee was what did it for us. If you are trying to pick between different condos at Papakea, this is the one.

What a view!

Very nice oceanfront condo. Split air conditioner in kitchen and bedroom rain to find. Great views of turtles, porpoises and tons of whales! Very comfortable bed and walk in shower and in unit washer and dryer. The parking lot has tight spaces. Great location close to grocery store and restaurants. Nice little beach access next door.

Nice condo, beautiful view. Love hearing the waves crash against the wall. Perfect for watching sunsets. Don’t like being on the bottom floor due to lots of people walking by or putting their chairs in front of lanai. Otherwise, great place.

Relaxing

Our stay in this Papakea condo was very relaxing and enjoyable. The condo had everything we needed, right down to laundry and kitchen soaps. Shampoos, lotions, beach chairs, insulated bags for grocery’s with freeze blocks, small ice chest, masks, fins, snorkels, I could go on and on about all the equipment available to use. The only issue we had was parking…parking is not assigned and if you don’t get there early in the afternoon you end up parking quite a ways from your condo.

Great stay

We loved this location for our two year old. Easy for her to run on the grass in front of the property. The view is amazing from the corner windows. As others mention it is next to the pool and party spot so it isn’t quiet at night but we enjoyed the high spirits. The bedroom has a king bed but has room for a pack and play (not provided on-site). The kitchen is well stocked! There are a group of food carts near by that made for easy eating. The beach access has rather rough waves so we drove to different beaches. Overall loved the stay and the view. It was magical!

never disappoints!

Not our first time at Papakea, but first time in this unit. Once again were not disappointed! Can not beat a ground floor unit, ocean front and able to walk out onto the lanai and just continue onto the exceptionally manicured grounds of the resort. Unit was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay, one stop at grocery store before we arrived and we were set for the week. Would suggest that maybe a smaller cooler would be better then a full sized one for ease and convienience if are heading out exploring for the day. One of the blinds for the patio doors was very still and was concerned that the chain was going to snap when i would close it in the evenings.

It was leaking water from the Fan/ Lamp Area for the last two days of my stay and it was not fixed

I have Videos and Pictures of water Leaking in the bathroom from Both Fans/Lamp areas and It was leaking on top of me as I was using the restroom and also They said they’ll fix it but they haven’t and it kept leaking through the Night and this Morning too. On top of that the Bathroom shower door didn’t close and the Sofa Bed in the Living Room was very uncomfortable.

Papakea L 108 2/1-15/2020

Lovely place, but a couple of relatively glitches. The keypad lock at the front door did not work properly on arrival, and was finicky to use throughout our visit, not even once did it open on the first attempt. The roller blind on the right side (facing the ocean) of the lanai door will not hold in a more than halfway down position ... instead it completely unrolls and puddles on the floor. Overall minor annoyances in a very nice stay. Thank you.

Unit needs work

Loved the location of this corner unit and we always stay at Papakea resort. It is perfect for us and so pretty, great location, freindly staff, fun activities like putt putt. Unfortunately this unit was so dirty! Floors, carpet and especially bathroom. I had management company bring new toilet brush and broom as those there were black. I cleaned all day first day. When I stripped bed found mattress cover filthy. Such a shame as is really the perfect location. Be sure to bring all but salt and pepper. Nothing else supplied. Electronics and appliances all in working order. Hope changes are made as would love to stay in this unit again. Mahalo and aloha.

The rental is in a great location and is a ground floor unit with windows on two sides. The unit it self is very plain and needs some refurbishing. I knew that there were two windows and people could look right in, and that didn’t bother me during the day because you enjoy the view so much, but at night the old pull down shades were very old and one wouldn’t even go down so you had no privacy. The pictures look better than in person. It just needs a little color and updating. It also needs some nice curtains that you can close at night for privacy. I just felt you are paying for the location but the condo it self could be wonderful with some color and updating. Also the air conditioner in the living room did not work. The controls wouldn’t even turn on.

Maui paradise

So very beautiful. View was awesome. There from 1/23/2022 til 1/31/2022. The whale watching off the condo patio was unbelievable. Would staY at this condo everytime we come if avIlable.

This was the relaxing getaway we had hoped for.

Waking up each morning to open up the blinds and see this beautiful view was one of the highlights of our trip. The sunset were absolutely fantastic and became a resort wide event for how spectacular they were over the water here. Being able to walk right out to the water or pool (this unit is right next to the pool) was also super convenient. Having the full kitchen was nice and saved us some money on eating out. All in all we are hoping to be able to get back soon.

Paradise on earth

It’s homey and unpretentious, the condo is well appointed, from the kitchen to the beach chairs w/ beach towels, washer and dryer in unit, marvelous. I had everything I needed and when I found the binoculars next to the television (yee ha and bingo) I would make two small suggestions, towels for bathing and wash clothes were sparse. Only 3 of each item for two people. Not a fan of reusing a washcloth after I have washed my bum with it. This forced me to do more laundry than I wanted to. If there were 4 wash clothes and 2 towels per person, I can get thru the week with only 1 load of laundry. The other suggestion is to have a hand held shower unit in the shower, I love them they help you rinse better in a small shower and would also be helpful to your cleaning staff. These items would help but never would they ever deter us from staying in this super unit with 180 degrees of ocean view on the first floor 30 feet away from the ocean. Didn’t even need to use the AC.

Perfect Location!!

We absolutely loved our condo stay. The location could not be any better. Being on the first level gave us a perfect view of the ocean and daily sunsets and just walked right out the patio door. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the unit was equipped with a cooler, two beach chairs, 4 beach towels and a starter kit for cleaning and washing clothes. We will definitely stay here again.
