Secluded Mountain House near State College & Huntingdon, PA

Get away for a mountain top experience in this secluded mountain house where wild life can be enjoyed with your morning coffee along with a breathtaking view. Experience quiet solitude in the central PA mountains yet you are about 30 minute drive to State College with all the activities of Penn State University and Football. The three bedrooms comfortably sleeps 6. A wood stove in the basement, gas fireplace upstairs, whole house heating and air conditioning and an emergency generator system guarantee your comfort no matter what is happening outside. In the winter 4 wheel drive is necessary to drive up the steep gravel lane in ice and snow.
Enjoy hiking trails on our 115+ acres of property which has access to Stone Creek, an active trout stream. Also Whipple Dam, Greenwood Furnace State Park, Rothrock State Forest and Raystown Lake are a short drive away. The mountain house adjoins Spotted Hart Stables, home to our 12 Appaloosa horses which can be seen grazing in their hillside pastures. On a stroll through the forest you may catch a glimpse of Ghazi our 3 time Appaloosa national champion endurance horse out for a training ride or experience the soaring of bald eagles on mountain air currents. Wildlife abounds for you to experience. End your day with s'mores around an evening campfire watching the sun set with brilliant colors that change every day behind the next mountain. As you wait for the stars to appear unhindered by background light, peace and tranquility will take on a new meaning for you.
The opportunity to antique shop, visit a winery, enjoy Amish & country cooking awaits your visit to Belleville. Small town charm, architecture and Raystown Lake await your visit to Huntingdon. If you prefer the more upscale modern restaurants and shopping experience, State College is happy to supply your desires. Whether you are looking for that quiet getaway with friends & family or are looking for a more private peaceful convenient location to access State College activities, the mountain house will become your home away from home. The house and property are amazing! So peaceful and beautiful outside and in! Perfect place to relax with family and enjoy the fire pit and some smores the night before the Penn State football game. The open floor plan allowed all of us to gather inside and the porches and deck were fabulous for enjoying nature and just hanging out!

We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean, comfortable, and peaceful, tucked away on the mountain with beautiful surroundings. It’s in a great location—just a short and easy ride to Penn State and the stadium. The thoughtful muffin gift basket was such a nice touch and made us feel very welcome. Quiet and Relaxing

We had a lovely stay at this incredibly quiet, peaceful, and very clean home that sits atop a mountain. You def need 4 wheel drive if you are going up in the winter, but once you arrive, you will not want to leave. The owners left fresh baked goods (which were delicious) and were very easy to communicate with. We did some food shopping close to State College as the local country store was not open when we were there. The home had everything we needed to cook on site, couches and beds were very comfy, and even though it was freezing outside, we enjoyed the outdoor deck to take in some nature. Would def recommend this home.

Secluded stay on the farm

We stayed the weekend of a Penn State home football game, and it worked out great. 30 minutes from PSU, plenty of space to hang out, grill some dinner, and enjoy the big family room. A great place to get away from the busy town during a game weekend, yet close enough to drive back and forth. We'd definitely stay again. At first we thought it was a bit pricey but it was easily in line with everything else the weekend of the big game with Ohio State.

Love visiting PA. We always look for those stays that are secluded. Check in was easy, house was clean. Did see quite a few lady bugs. Games were available which we took advantage of for a family game night. We enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful property

This is a great home in a beautiful area outside of State College. The owners were great and responsive, provided all of the necessities and was very clean. It is a little bit away from Penn State but close enough if you were going to a game and also want to get away from the chaos of a football weekend.

Private house on beautiful grounds

This secluded mountain getaway is a very unique property and a wonderdul find! The fresh floral mountain air was amazing and the property is very nice and well maintained. We very much enjoyed the air hockey and ping pong game tables downstairs. We would have loved to enjoy the outdoor space more but we had a rainy weekend. There are hiking trails on the property which I would have loved to explore. I highly recommend this property. The owners are very responsive, and offered many helpful restaurant and hiking options.

Beautiful views and convenient location

Visited Penn State for college tour and needed a place close to the school . Unfortunately, we visited on a busy weekend, making it difficult to find quality accommodation. I decided to look for areas that were right outside State College town and found a hidden gem . Beautiful property with fantastic views of lush green mountains and trees surrounding the property. The owners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with throughput the entire stay .

Stayed Friday and Saturday evenings, in town for the Penn State game. The house was everything that was advertised. The owners were great and provided clear instructions and guidance. Penn State/Michigan State Football Weekend

What a great weekend! Not only did my buddies and I get to spend time with our daughters, but we also got to stay at this fabulous secluded hideaway!! What a beautiful location and wonderful house. The house was extremely clean and the location couldn’t have been better! Wonderful view from the living room and just an all-in-all gorgeous setting.

Perfect stay for our Penn State weekend!

Our stay was truly wonderful! Communication with the owners was great, and you can feel their genuine hospitality without ever meeting them in person! Upon arrival, there was a welcome basket with homemade baked goods! The house was super clean and beds were really comfortable! Although we were in town for a football weekend and not at the house much, the views and outdoor experience would have been awesome to enjoy if we had more time. Also, the basement was such a surprise - filled with all kinds of tabletop games! We would definitely stay here again!
