HABOST
Stornoway 20 miles
The area known as Pairc, South Lochs is made up of a number of small villages and is situated in the south east area of Lewis. Habost is one of the oldest settlements. Visitors to this remote and peaceful Island will enjoy its spectacular scenery, beautiful beaches as well as our many historic sights such as the Callanais Standing Stones reputed to be older than Stonehenge and a well preserved Pictish broch and the Blackhouse village at Garenin. Stornoway is the main shopping town and Lews Castle museum is well worth a visit to view the world famous Lewis Chessmen. The Island is a great place to spot wildlife such as both of Britain's largest raptors, the sea and golden eagle, seals, deer, whales, otter and dolphins amongst many others.
