Dog-friendly home with huge yard - near swimming hole, snowmobiling
The quintessential New Hampshire experience awaits at this atmospheric home on the edge of White Mountain National Forest. With winter snowmobile trails and a summer swimming hole on the Ammonoosuc River just up the road, this is a place for taking in the quiet beauty of the great outdoors.
This three-story home enjoys a serene woodland setting, which requires all wheel drive in winter and plenty of parking for trailers carrying your snowmobiles and ATVs. It's an epicenter for skiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing in the colder months, as well as hiking, fishing, and swimming come summer. So much is within easy day-tripping distance, including Bretton Woods Ski Area (seven miles), Santa's Village (seven miles), Mt. Washington Resort and Spa (eight miles), the Mt. Washington Cog Railway (13 miles), and Littleton's restaurants, breweries, and theater scene (20 miles).
After a day out and about at Story Land (32 miles), come home to unwind on the covered front porch and watch your kids play in the enormous yard. Take in the view of the surrounding mountains and forest, and cozy up by the firepit to roast marshmallows once the sun goes down.
The interior is full of rustic ambience, from the animal mounts on the walls with a floor-to-ceiling stone hearth. Enjoy an open-concept living space where you can prepare and enjoy meals, gather for board games, and watch after-dinner movies on the smart TV. In the evenings, take a soothing soak in the jetted bathtub on the first floor, or simply retreat to the large bedrooms for a restful night's sleep.

The house is beautiful and has all the amenities, including a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of sleeping and sitting room, a giant private plot of land, a jacuzzi, a fantastic outdoor fire pit, and an indoor fireplace. Its location is perfect between the White Mountains and the Franconia Notch, so you can hike both.
This home came with all the amenities we needed! There were plenty of rooms and it was all super clean when we got there!

Connecticut,
we loved everything about this trip. The house was beautiful nice view big backyard. Lots of space for my kids. My family was in love. Santa Village was like 10 minutes away. A lot of nice places were nearby. Hopefully when we go back, this house is available.
Last ditch effort to sneak in one more snowmobile trip toward end of season. House was spotless, accommodating and comfortable. A working fireplace was a nice touch after a cold riding day. Neighborhood super quiet an could count vehicles on one hand throughout 5 days. See you in spring for round two!!!
It was exactly what we wanted. This home felt like a beloved family cabin and not a profit-center. It was very well taken care of and it’s obvious it’s loved - from the mowed lawns, beautiful orchard, and fire-pit to a fantastic covered balcony with so many hummingbirds coming to the feeders. We were searching for a place that we could stay as a family with our 2 dogs, and it was the perfect location. So peaceful and quiet with a large lawn space that was very private. We hadn’t expected it to be almost 90 every day, but the home had central A/C that worked well. Although not the most convenient location (plan to drive at least 15-30 minutes to get to anywhere you need to purchase groceries, etc), it was just what we wanted. Would definitely stay again!

We’ve been renting from HomeAway/VRBO since 1992. Direct (local) contact with the owner or agent. Detailed, specific (written) notes on appliances, video, fireplaces, etc. in the rental. No real problems in over 30 years. Our problems with this rental was not with VRBO, but with Vacasa, a Rental Management company headquartered In Portland, OR., who we rented this property from. From problems with my very first enquires (answered, I’m convinced, by an AI program), we received generic, useless answers or ‘instructions’. House directions were wrong, entry lock instructions wrong, no written directions of any kind on house appliances, etc. On our fourth day, no hot water or heat. Guessed (rightly) we were out of propane. Spent the whole day trying to get action from Vacasa (many eMailings and phone calls). Finally went to VBRO and VBRO put me in contact with a Vacasa ‘Area Manager’ who finally, after more argument, put me in contact with the Vacasa local contractor in NH (‘Nick’, who, in all fairness, acted immediately). Frustrating. The house and property are beautiful and comfortable. We would rent it again. But that’s not enough for us to consider ever renting from Vacasa again.
