First of all, we were not informed that Ramada had taken over the Prospector Hotel, which made it difficult to find (even though when we called the evening before our arrival, a staff person answered as "Prospector Hotel." The room was very lovely for a good price (booked in November, 2018), but service was indifferent. The front desk agreed to book a cab for us at 3:45 am for our early flight out of Juneau, but when we were a few minutes late appearing she inexplicably sent the cab away! We had to wait almost 1/2 hour for another cab and were anxious about missing our flight, which would have necessitated staying over an extra day.

I would have rated it higher, but I requested a wakeup call that they did Not comply with and I could have missed my ferry. I was not happy about that and the front desk person didn't seem to care.

Went there for work. Good location, good prices, good service. I look forward to staying there again on my next business trip to Juneau.

Prospector Hotel stay

Pros: staff were friendly and the room was immaculate
Location: TRAM, boat and sightseeing tours, restaurants
Nice clean hotel in easy walking distance to shops, docs and restaurants

Not great, better than where I've stayed before

Cons: Beds could have been a bit softer.
Location: Close to down town, walking distance about 5-10 minutes. Close to grocery store, 5-10 minute walk so you could buy food and store in fridge.
The bathroom was fine, the fridge, microwave and extended cable was a nice surprise. I decided to fly to Juneau one day early and couldn't extend my stay at the hotel I originally booked in advance so I had to book Prospector hotel online for one night. I wish I booked this hotel in advance for my 5 day stay instead of the Baranof. The Baranof didn't have a microwave, fridge or the extra extended cable and was more expensive. The beds in the Prospector were a bit firm for my tastes though. If I reserve a room in advance at the Prospector on my next trip to Juneau, I'm asking for extra blankets to sleep on so the beds are a bit softer. The staff was great. The food at the adjoining restaurant was not as good as the first time I ate there 6 years ago, but it wasn't bad. I had the Halibut fish and chips like last time, the halibut was smaller than before, noticeably smaller, but still good.
