We loved everything about this place! Adults loved the pool as much as the kids did. Location was great, we had nonstop fun - I think we did everything the island had to offer. House could not have been more perfect for our family of eleven. Would love to do it all again!
You are paying for the view-which is beautiful! The house size was great for our party of 11. The patio doors would not slide, so we had to use the side door. ALL of the doors had gaps around them, and we were constantly getting mosquito bites and there were a lot of mosquitos! The a/c in the main floor bedroom was not effective and smelled musty. The media room's TV did not work. I did not contact the manager about the a/c or tv so I cannot say it would or would not have been fixed. Didn't want people coming in with all out stuff there!I did contact the office when we ran out of propane over the weekend, so the oven and clothes dryer didn't work. They arrived quickly and hooked up the tank from the gas grill so we could use the oven. We did not receive propane until Monday afternoon, so the laundry did pile up. The propane issue was the only contact we had with the company. However, that was resolved. The house is in desperate need of a good cleaning and several simple maintenance fixes!I did mention these to the gentleman when he was there about the propane, he was aware, said they had been trying to get doors for several months. The house is advertised as having a/c in the bedrooms and media room - this is true; however, the remainder of the home was unbearably hot!We made it work and had a good family vacation!I usually do not do reviews, but the amount of was a lot for the condition of the house. The pool was great and the view amazing!
The property is represented well in the advertisement. It is pricey, the views did not disappoint. Only negative was the check out process. Departure time is a little to early at 10 am, its hard to even enjoy a breakfast with trying to rush around and get everyone out by 10. For the price the check out process asked us to start laundry of towels which i was only able to start 1 batch. Other than that the place is wonderful. Thank you
Our family celebration was perfect at this beautiful oceanside home. Very comfortable and well-equipped. We hired a private chef one evening and he commented that rental properties rarely are this well stocked. Itâs close to town but far away enough to be peaceful and secluded. We could not have asked for a better place to experience Hawaii. Mahalo!
TL;DR: 10/10 would stay again Iâm still in shock over how amazing this property is! The view of the ocean is UNBELIEVABLE! We could go out and look at tide pools and see turtles right outside the house. We even saw a pod of dolphins swim by one morning! It has EVERYTHING you need for a beach day (towels, chairs, boogie boards, snorkels, goggles, sand toys, coolers, fishing rods, floaties, sunscreen etc.) A quick walk down to the kids beach -PERFECT for our family (kids 5-7-9 yo) Not crowded. Kitchen is well equipped. Pantry had olive oil, spices, vinegar, sugar, flour, and tea. Enough trash bags and laundry pods to get us through our week long stay. The layout worked really well for us but might be awkward depending on who youâre traveling with. The pool was just a little colder than I would like it but the kids didnât care! A/C is all in the bedrooms, the main living space downstairs doesnât have AC but you can get a nice breeze from outside. Not too hot unless we had stuff in the oven cooking. The propane tanks for the grill were empty when we arrived but the management company replaced them in just a few hours.) There are some baseball fields very close to the house -we noticed big lights music and announcements but it wasnât enough to keep us up.
Stunning views of ocean and pool, sunsets and volcanic rock. Large house that worked well for our 10 person family for a reunion. Some maintenance issues with screen doors that donât work well and property is showing some wear and tear; overall fine. You are paying for an amazing view with tide pools and a small beach for snorkeling nearby.
Beautiful property. Tons of room for family Christmas. Very large gathering area. Upstairs master is crazy big. Very cool media room over garage adjacent to 3 bedrooms and bath. Several cons. Pool not heated; Kitchen gets hot whever
Kona Blue was the perfect location for our party of 8, gathering from across the country to celebrate my mother-in-lawâs 80th birthday. We had specific needs for a home given the size of our group & Momâs mobility needs & Kona Blue fit the bill. There were plenty of spaces for us to spread out & not be on top of each other & the downstairs suite was perfect for Mom. When she became ill, she was able to isolate but still enjoy the ocean view as well as easy access to the lanai & talk with us through the screens. Communication with the rental company was wonderful & they were very responsive to my questions & requests before & during our stay. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars for the listing is because I felt the description was a little confusing in terms of how many rooms & the layout - there are 3 rooms over the garage with a bathroom & living room, the downstairs suite, a half bath downstairs & an amazingly large master suite upstairs. Definitely recommend Kona Blue, especially if you have a large group.
We had a group of 11 (6 adults, 5 children) at Kona Blue for 6 days/nights. It was a summer family vacation for 3 generations. Bedrooms were very adequate, glad they had AC. The pool was a big hit with the kids and the size of the very well equipped kitchen was a hit with the adults. We really appreciated the labels in locating kitchen items, the surplus of beach towels, the ceiling fans, the size of the dining tables, and all the supplies that lasted us all 6 days (toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher pods, shampoo, bar soap, hand soap, towels, spices, plastic wrap left behind, etc.) Lack of AC in the public areas was evident in the summer temps. and high humidity. We recommend some drying racks for wet suits and towels and more towel bars/rings in the bathrooms. Also, maintenance should come through more often to check for minor repairs...sticky door/screens, toilets running longer than they should, etc. We had a wonderful time at Kona Blue!
