The Space:

Liberty Lodge 1 by Tiny Away is a unique tiny house just 55 minutes from Antwerp, offering an immersive tiny house living experience in the heart of Liberty Ranch, Kalmthout. Watch ponies graze nearby or, in summer, a herd of 65 horses pass just meters away. Spend your days exploring Arboretum Kalmthout or Rubenshuis, then unwind under the stars with only the distant sound of hooves.



A comfortable 252-square-foot tiny home with easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet, hand basin, and shower (electric-heated for hot showers).



IMPORTANT NOTE: If you're booking for a group, we have two holiday homes, "Liberty Lodge 1" and "Liberty Lodge 2", available with 24 hours' notice in advance.



Advisory:

Tap water is safe to drink as it is sourced from deep groundwater; however, guests may prefer to boil it. A kettle is provided for your convenience.



Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the tiny house and its grounds, but paddocks and ranch-only areas are off-limits to protect the horses.

Liberty Lodge 1 by Tiny Away in Kalmthout, just 55 minutes from Antwerp, puts nature first. Explore the Kalmthoutse Heide reserve, with purple heathlands, endless forests, and reflective marshes. Skip the tourist traps—discover farm shops, strong coffee, old smuggling routes, and an Arboretum with trees from around the world. History comes alive in conversations with locals who know every trail and shortcut.



Our local favorites include Zoo Antwerpen, one of the world’s oldest zoos with over 5,000 animals; Arboretum Kalmthout, where trees and plants from around the globe thrive; Park van Brasschaat, with its green spaces, walking paths, and historic castle; Het Steen, a medieval fortress on the Scheldt River; and Rubenshuis, the former home and workshop of Peter Paul Rubens, showcasing his masterpieces and 17th-century Flemish art.



Getting Around:

By car:



These are the big cities:

- From Nieuwmoer to Antwerp: 40 kms and 45 minutes by car, 25 minutes by train just into the city center of Antwerp.

- Breda: 30 km from Nieuwmoer and 30 minutes by car

- Rotterdam: 80km from Nieuwmoer, 1 hour and 15 minutes by car

- Brussels: 85 kms from Nieuwmoer, 1,5 hours by car

- Gent: 94 kmw from Nieuwmoer, 1,5 hours by car



The smaller towns are Kalmthout, Wildert, Essen, Wuustwezel: All within 10 to 15 minutes by car



By public transport:



- From train station Essen, take the bus 67 untill Nieuwmoer. That will take about 19 minutes and than about 20 minutes walk.

- From train station Kalmthout, take the bus 67 untill Nieuwmoer. That will take about 13 minutes followed by a walk of 20 minutes to our property.

- Taxis:

By flight:



- Antwerp International Airport (ANR): The closest airport, about 45 minutes by car from Nieuwmoer.

- Brussels Airport (BRU): Belgium’s main international hub, located 1.5 hours away by car.

- Eindhoven Airport (EIN): A Dutch airport 1 hour away by car, often a budget-friendly alternative for European flights.

- Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM): 1 hour and 15 minutes by car.

- Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS): A major international hub 1.5 to 2 hours away by car or train.



Other Things to Note:

- Wifi is available

- Pets are not allowed

- No BBQ grill is available

- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed

- Smoking is allowed in designated areas of the property

- Mobile reception has weak signals for Orange S.A.; No signals for the rest

- Make sure to turn off the lights, AC, electronics, close windows and doors when leaving

- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge



Important note:



- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present in the surrounding areas

- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests.
