The Potter suite that I was staying in had the most beautiful view on the lake and the mountains. My comfortable room was being cleaned every day. I can also recommend the bathtub in which I took very relaxing baths. The staff is friendly and accommodated to all of our needs and were overall just very helpful. Taking morning walks to the lake is also something that I enjoyed doing a lot. The hotel truly has a magical garden. I will definitely come back to the Derwentwater Hotel when I visit the Lake District again.
Overall great experience. Beautiful location and friendly staff. Room was ok but no channels on the TV which is what you need when you've had a day out. Breakfast lovely would stay again
Room 108. Bit tired. Squeakiest floorboards Iâve ever heard. Bathroom fittings broken. But staff are lovely and friendly. Your night shift even got rid of a massive spider for us on arrival. Thatâs service for you!!!
I had read a review in July 2025 that said this hotel was sold to a new owner and was going to be renovated. But when we arrived Oct 2025, the front desk clerk said they had just purchased the hotel a month ago and were planning on renovating. This place needs more than just paint. New flooring, paint, and rooms desperately need to be updated properly. Our room had an âupdatedâ bathroom but it seeemd to be only half finished and poorly at that. Also a spider and dead mosquito were found on the sil. So poorly cleaned. No water pressure in the shower. The price was low - but not reflective of the disrepair. The front desk staff were friendly and apologetic and importantly, receptive to feedback.
Quite a run down hotel. Pet friendly. location to Keswick was walkable. ( take a torch for walking back). The bar area is huge but sparse. No homely feel to it. Gardens are lovely with a walk to the lake. We didnât try the food but the bar was reasonably priced. Rooms very dated but clean.
Excellent location and very peaceful. All the staff were very professional and pleasant. The room was spacious with a good sized ensuite bathroom. Having read previous reviews about the hotel we were not surprised or disappointed by the rather dated decor and bathroom. And given the good value of our stay compared to other similar venues, this was clearly factored in.
Average stay at the Derwentwater hotel, the staff & location are excellent however we did feel the hotel looked tired. Also we found the bed very hard. Overall weâve had a lovely time in the Lakes.
Great hotel and a lovely outdoor area and bar. Check in was very slow with a queue of people in the waiting room.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
No AC which is a shame.
Wi-Fi was good.
Beds were not comfortable.
