Place was lovely, very clean and the breakfast was superb. But both me and my partner are in wheelchairs part time, I could not get hold of the hotel to say we would be using our chairs that weekend and would need downstairs accommodation. On arrival, before official check in time, I said do you have any downstairs rooms as we have our wheelchairs. I was told no, you are on the first floor, âItâs just one flight, itâs a weekend so we are fully bookedâ. No apology, we spent the weekend having to carefully go upstairs with one hand rail on the stairs. This has deteriorated my partners condition.
Unfortunately itâs unlikely we will stay there again due to this.
This hotel has a very special atmosphere which somehow makes you instantly relax. The hotel team are extremely helpful and the food is some of the best we have ever tasted. The bedrooms are small but that is the only slight downside. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the mattresses are very comfortable. Breakfast is 10/10. Parking is easy. The location is perfect. We can't wait to return.
Amazing stay at a beautiful property. Just off the Coast to Coast walk, this hotel was a perfect place to recover from a long walk. And the all-day tea/coffee and scones was a lifesaver. The rooms were nice and the food was delicious. Could not recommend more. They even had a place to fill up water bottles/bladders next to a gear drying room, which was a nice touch.
This was our first time at The Royal Oak Hotel. Staff were very friendly, and couldnât have been more helpful. Our room was modern with a rustic yet country feel, comfortable, spacious, and clean. Food was delicious. We had breakfast each morning and dined in the restaurant on the night. Staff were helpful and attentive.
The hotel is dog friendly, which was perfect as we have two Labs, which meant the could come with us.
Loved it here, very relaxing stay, lovely scones available on arrival and each afternoon, bed was comfy, shower was good. View from window onto River was beautiful. Liked that there was no TV in the room, more opportunity to relax. Also had an EV charger, was unable to get to it first night as someone else was parked in the space, but had access the following night so had enough charge to get home. Ate there 1 evening out of 2. Limited menu (still a good choice) very well cooked and presented. Would definitely recommend
Lovely hotel that allow dogs to stay.Rroom very spacious, warm and clean. Staff very friendly. Food very good, and plenty to choose from at breakfast. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for making us welcome.
The hotel was lovely in a beautiful location and breakfast was really good.
The guest WiFi did not work throughout the stay.
We were woken up at half 7 by music playing from the kitchen.
We mistook the check out time and had a member of staff knock on the door and be completely unprofessional with how he spoke to us. He spoke in an extremely condescending rude tone.
Lovely hotel with a relaxed vibe. The staff are all very friendly and offer a great service. Not only were we looked after, but our dog was also made to feel like a guest.
The food is also amazing. Quality breakfast and lovely evening meal. We will definitely be returning.
Great base for walking in the area, however 15-20 minute drive from Keswick. Canât speak for all rooms but ours was small, with no TV. Bathroom could do with some shelves, however very good shower.
Breakfast choice, quality and service was very good.
ÂŁ30 additional cost for a dog irrespective of length of stay is extreme
We had a fantastic few days staying at the Royal Oak. Our room was perfect - very clean with extremely comfortable beds, an amazing shower and a lovely view straight onto the river. Lots of walking straight from the door, handy drying room for wet kit and lovely cosy bar and lounge for an after walk drink and board game. Dinner was absolutely delicious with a choice of three options each night. Highly recommended - we will definitely return!
