Nellie’s Homeplace is a historic cabin located on a 100-acre Century Farm at the base of Sauratown Mountain. The cabin holds many memories and historical significance from the last 100+ years on the farm. Nellie, the grandmother of one of the current owners, was born in the cabin and lived there for several years of her childhood. The cabin has been restored in recent years in hopes that others may too enjoy the peacefulness of the cabin nestled between the trees on the back side of the farm.

My wife and I had a great stay. It was the perfect place for us. We are country people and enjoyed the scenery and the cottage. Our host was always communicating with us and made us feel at home. Thanks

An amazing stay… again!
Always immaculately clean with beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Couldn’t ask for a nicer place. Bed is super comfortable and there were plenty of towels for our week long stay. This is our second time staying here and can’t wait to come back again. Thanks Vickie!

Weekend Getaway
This place is awesome! Private, clean and a great location to all the nearby sites in the Pilot Mountain/Mt. Airy area. The house is perfect and has all the amenities that anyone could want. The furniture and bed is also very comfortable. The owner was very easy to get in touch with and we will definitely stay here again!!! On a scale of 5, this place is a 10!!!

Peaceful and Quiet Cabin
The location, despite a few minutes from town, is beautiful. The cabin is located at the end of a drive through a farm that is very calming. The cabin's location is perfect...in the trees with a pond view. It has been updated to include all the necessities and is perfect for two people. It is close to lots of hiking at Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock State Park plus lots of wineries. Vickie is wonderful to work with and is willing to provide whatever you need.

Peaceful Retreat
We had a wonderful time at Nellie’s. Me and my fiancé had a great time away for a little romantic getaway. We enjoyed fishing in the pond, they have some nice brim and bass too! I also enjoyed the outside setting, fire, beautiful lighting, and a nice relaxing swing on the hammock. Everything we needed was there. We cooked all of our meals, and stayed cuddled and cozy most the time. We had to make one run for some ketchup at the little store up the street. We definitely recommend. 10 out of 10!

Wonderful
My wife and I were attending a conference in Winston Salem, and wanted to stay away from city hubub. This cabin provided a escape from city. It was neat and clean, nicely arranged space. Very comfortable and quiet. It had basic pans, oven, microwave, plates and cups, not anything extra. Nice place overall, would recommend, there is another house a stones throw up the hill, but we were not bothered by anyones coming and going.

Lovely place to regroup and restore
Nellie's Home place is a beautifully restored, comfortably furnished, thoughtfully equipped cabin. It is secluded and quiet at the end of a half mile well maintained gravel drive. I was cozy and warm on a rainy January day and woke to a full moon reflected in the pond. The remarkably comfortable bed combined with peace and solitude gifted me with the best sleep I've had in a while. Hanging Rock Park has a range of excellent hikes on well marked trails and the combination of time outside and a mini-retreat at Nellie's Home Place helped me re-group and head for home feeling grateful and more grounded.

Absolute Perfection!
Where to begin? There were so many wonderful aspects to this get-away location for me, but probably first and fore most was the communication. Vickie was fantastic to communicate and be flexible to my changing circumstances. I was able to arrive later than my original expectation and was able to stay an extra day, with no issues what so ever. Nellies homeplace is oh so charming, cozy, and inclusive. Everything you need is right here, and done so with thought and care. Secluded enough to feel like you have "gotten away from it all" but close enough to local attractions, restaurants, and shopping to be convenient. I look forward to returning here again and again, especially during the Spring and Fall!
