1 Beachdown - Wi-Fi, Parking
A beautifully designed luxury family home with oodles of contemporary space. Perfectly positioned as the last property in a row of 12 within the exclusive Beachdown development, No. 1 has a unique outlook, and is the only home within the development to benefit from a sea view from its roof terrace. The development lies on south Devon's sought-after South Hams coastline just 150 meters from the beautiful Blue Flag beach in Challaborough so for family holidays by the sea, it simply doesn't get better.
Bright and spacious, an atmosphere of airiness and comfort dominates the upstairs living space which spills outside through large bifold doors on to a large, decked patio. Backed by a landscaped, tiered garden, the area feels private and peaceful, with steps leading up to a fabulous roof terrace where sweeping sea views are showcased; perfect for fresh air dining or for soaking up the Devonshire sunshine on hot days.
Practically, the home's interior space works just as beautifully creating areas to come together in as well as room to be apart, with a convivial open plan layout incorporating the home's huge living room with luxury seating and entertainment system, contemporary kitchen and large, spacious dining area. Perfect for whipping up anything from a full English to a roast dinner, the kitchen is fully kitted out and includes a breakfast bar with seating, while the dining area which looks out over the terrace, creates a sociable space for sharing meals and conversation. Downstairs, the three modern bedrooms are generously proportioned to provide guests with space to retreat to after days spent enjoying the sun and surf, and the family suite with its furnished snug is ideal for guests with children in tow.
1 Beachdown is the perfect base from which to enjoy all that the wonderful stretch of South Hams coastline has to offer. From exploring nearby Burgh Island to sampling the surf at Bigbury on Sea, wandering the South West Coast Path through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, or SUPing in Kingsbridge, this holiday home is just the place for making memories and enjoying some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

The house is light, modern, clean, spacious and has great entertaining spaces. It overlooks a caravan park, but we knew this and that was fine. The major issue was that the washing machine is broken and it fused the electricity of the house mid-cycle with a full load of my kidsâ clothes (sitting in dirty water). I had no clean clothes for my kids and, when pressed, the only alternative the agent offered was to use the laundrette at the caravan site. This is c20mins walk away from the house (NB you cannot park at the caravan site). This then created lots of others issues (make sure you bring coins and detergent for the laudrette!). Having rented a premium house, it is not exactly where I wanted to spend 2 hours on a Sat evening.
Beautiful modern home with a fabulous layout. Perfect spot to enjoy lovely long walks, visit Salcombe or the like and the beach are minutes away. Be sure to check your dates of travel if you want to enjoy the Challaborough Holiday Parkâs beach with your dog as it not dog friendly all year. The house is dog friendly for one dog. Just a note, the house has no operating windows, only sliding doors, really nice ones, that we had wide open throughout our stay. That said if you have a pet or children that tend tend to stray, you will find it very difficult to get fresh air in without having the doors open.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Beachdown is a stoneâs throw from the beach. The property is spacious and beautifully decorated throughout, with ample crockery and glassware, etc. provided. A large TV, ample games and DVDâs and lots of books are available to guests. The large balcony terrace is a great social and relaxing space.
On arrival there was a bottle of milk in the fridge - very welcome - and a bottle of local fizz and some fudge, all nice touches.
Elsie, the property host was very helpful and always replied to messages and queries promptly - gratefully appreciated.
Challaborough is a sleepy, unspoilt and friendly village perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy an uncomplicated holiday with great coastal views. Bigbury on Sea and Burgh Island are a short walk away along the coast path.
