How close is Atlantic Hotel Kribi to downtown Kribi?
It was fairly typical for a hotel in Africa. There was obvious maintenance that was needed in the bathroom - some peeling paint and an off-kilter cabinet - but the room was big enough for the four of us, and the A/C and hot water was as good as it gets and rather unexpected. The ceiling light in the bedroom was not bright enough, but we brought our own emergency lighting so that was not an issue. The woman at the front desk was very helpful in getting us our room. WARNING: the hotel staff does not regularly consult the web, so they had no idea that we were coming, and there were no two-bed rooms available for the length of our stay when we arrived. However, after discussing putting us up in two single rooms (which would have increased the cost of our stay substantially), she finally decided to give us a two-bed room anyway and figure out an alternate solution for a family coming in two days later. That solved our problem nicely. We have no idea if it inconvenienced people farther down the road. The beach was lovely and varied (good sandy area, large rocky area, interesting walk south to a wreck just off the coast). We had a good meal there the first night and then ate out for the following three nights. It was equidistant to our favorite places to visit. Considering another hotel had lost our reservation, it was a blessing to find this place.
