Lakefront home with dock, swimming area, & wood stove - sunset views
Summary:
Oberland Retreat
The Space:
Gorgeously situated on the shore of Pokegama Lake and surrounded by wildlife and lush greenery, this lakefront home offers a memorable Northwoods escape no matter the season. Come summer, you can spend all day, every day, out on the water - launching your craft from the private dock, enjoying the sand-bottom swimming area around the private dock and swim raft, and dining al fresco on the waterfront deck above the boathouse. A firepit and incredible sunset views await you each evening after your adventures. Although this log home is located in a blissfully quiet spot on the area's renowned chain of lakes, you'll have access to an extensive network of ATV and snowmobile trails in the immediate area, boating activities for three seasons of the year, as well as excellent open water fishing in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. The town of Lac Du Flambeau is just one mile south, accessible by both road and water, as is the ever-popular Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. Good location. The stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and drier are very good. The light fixtures are dim in the living area and the furniture is too oversized for the space making it crowded. We had to use a flashlight to find items in the kitchen. The fireplace mantle hinders sitting down at the dining table. The bed in the master room either has a very narrow passage on the closet side, or making the passage wider blocks the bedroom door. The Webber grill is filthy and should be replaced. The stairs down to the lake are very steep and rickety. The railing at the top is rotted away from the anchor post. There is a rusted out BBQ on one of the landings and a large water mattress stored on the landing with a picnic table. I got a sliver in my finger holding on to the rotting wooden railing. The back screened in porch could be lovely but instead was cluttered with extra chairs and stools. On the cabin level the picnic table slopes inward and is uncomfortable for stting and having a meal. There is junk scattered around the property. Paint is peeling everywhere. Summation: This property needs to be redone or removed as a vacation listing. We left five days early due to the poor conditon.
Great place to stay, we cooked meals here with ease and had plenty of space - having your own dock is great. It is the North Woods and comes with some spider webs and worn flooring. Should have bought some firewood for the pit!
Great cabin. Loved the two wood fireplaces, one is a wood fire stove. Great dock and location at dead end road on peninsula. Very quiet spot. Recommend this place to anyone.
Great private setting with all amenities in north woods.
We really enjoyed this property. Location was on dead end street overlooking lake with private access. We enjoyed using kayaks to explore islands (bring your own life jackets). Excellent fire pit, and enclosed porch for views even on rainy days. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you might need. Beds were comfortable. Excellent sunset views. Overall, we highly recommend.
